Hey guys looking at putting a new track under my 05 900 151". Im looking a 3" pitch 162 powerclaw.

Obviously I need new drivers and an anti stab kit, cut down the rails etc. The driveshaft on this sled is....HUGE though!!! Where can i find drivers for this? Only Avid?

Also rail and tunnel extensions. Do i Need a tunnel extension? I see alot that say EXCEPT those with running board coolers. Will parts for an 05 IQ work fine on my 900?

Thanks guys. Im fine to do the work, just unsure on what parts I need to order.

Avid makes some custom drivers to run the Powerclaw on the IQ driveshaft. Give Robbie a call at Avid. Wahl no longer builds theirs (non-extroverts anyway) and Avid's are extroverts.

As for rail extensions...I'm not a big fan and would rec finding some 163 rails from a Dragon 08. The 09-10 rails are a little different but might still work. The 08 rails will definately work. You will be much happier going this route over extensions.

You will need a tunnel extension. You could either order one for a 05-06 IQ from a 159 or 166, find a take off used, or call VanAmburg and buy one from them. I have a used one from a 159 off an 05. Find out your best price and I'll try to beat it.

You are really going to like the Powerclaw.

power claw does not come in a 166. Using a stock rear extension of the 159-166 will give you better on trail cooling because it moves the cooler back so the track and your scrapers throws more snow on it. I have a van amburg extension for a dragon modified to work on mine and it looks and works great but cooling on the trail is not so good, in the powder it's fine. I'm probably going to either have VanAmburg make me a cooler this year or modify the sled to use a skidoo cooler.

True but there has to be alot of rails out there hifax etc easy to come by. 166 polaris track was perfect as sold... saw quite a few sold to ski doo and cat owners before the 174 came into being. It'll go anywhere a 159 does and then some.

Thanks guys. I have 8T 3.0 pitch Avids on the way, the 162 just dropped off. Might go with rail extensions instead of rails, but will be making a tunnel extension.

Thanks for the time and advice guys!

Could you go with a set of 159" rails and then run bigger wheels to take up the space without having to deal with extensions?

Far cheaper to get a big wheel kit to take up the extra length unless you have some worn out parts with the rails. Big wheels will take up the extra length to at least a 163, which is the swap I made.
You may have to look at re-gearing and some tweaking of your clutch with a new driver set up...
