Upgrading to a Front Flex Arm on Front of Rear Suspension

I kept reading about this front flex arm thingy and I wasn't sure what it was. So, I looked it up and holy moly it basically allows the rear suspension to flex like the new Skidoo mountain sleds, so the bikes will roll over easier. Wow, I want one but, I see they are $300 or $350 and unfortunately out of stock.

Here is the info from the Timbersled site:

Mtn. Tamer “Flex” front arm: The new front suspension arm has a side to side articulating motion that can be adjusted from 8° all the way down to 0° of motion (locked out). As you lean the bike the arm pivots allowing the rails to “Flex” side to side to create the leaning motion. This allows you to be able to lean more easily while the track transitions from flat to on-edge when riding down the trail, making the snow bike feel more like you're riding on tires while the back portion of the suspension leans with the bike keeping the cutting edge portion of the track to remain effective while cornering.

I just looked and I see I don't have a flex arm. :face-icon-small-fro

OK, I will need to see about getting one (as well as a spindle cross shaft). Now, how do I tell if my kit is a 2011 or a 2012? I will have to look into that. Oh.. I got it, the 2012 models only have one limiter strap. Mine only has one, so it must be a 2012 kit.

Are you guys that have them happy with the addition?

Stop reading so much and just go ride that thing.

IMO you don't NEED the flex arm, I don't have it, its just one more moving part to break. I can see it being good on the trail but the bike is not like a sled where you are trying to make it easier to pull over they side hill insanely already and it kinda seems like to me by having the skid flexing into the uphill edge you will be giving up some of the bite of the track is getting into the hill. I could be totally off base here as I haven't tried one but that's how it looks to me. Maybe I'll change my opinion once I try one, LOL, but for now I've never felt like I wished it would side hill better or wished it was easier to do.

It looks like the amount of pivot the front arm has is adjustable from 0 -3- 6 6 degrees of articulation. If one doesn't like it flexing, they can lock it out.

Don't worry, I will ride the bike soon. I have gone to register the bike twice and ran into snags both times. Hopefully, this week I can get it done.

If the new dual skag ski was 100% improvement over the 6", then the flex arm is another 50% improvement. If you don't like it, it always has the lockout option.

it makes the thing roll into the corners a bit easier on the hardpack trail.

in the deep hoping from '12 kits to '14 kits you honestly can't feel it.

just go out and ride it! you will find it performs significantly better out on the snow then in your garage collecting dust.

:face-icon-small-hap Don't worry, I will very soon.

I'm just trying to educate myself on this new and very unfamiliar contraption.

Idaho groomer permit

I say screw registering in our state of Washington. I can only imagine the hassle they are putting you through with a dirt bike. I buy an "out of state" Idaho groomer permit for a snowmobile. No need to show a title or prove you paid sales tax. All they want to know is what make of machine it is. But, you wont be leagal to ride in Washington with the Idaho permit, but where would you go? Mt. Spokane? The Blues? (flatland) Best riding is in North Idaho anyway. Call Allsport and see if they have the permits. Sorry to post off topic.
I heard one priest lake young guy say he felt the flex arm was twitchy when riding a trail fast. I haven't bought one, but I'll get a new kit next year.

It sounds like both OR and WA have not figured a good way to let you buy snowmobile tags. At Blewet the sheriff told us that ORV tags was all he was checking for until they can get a better plan in place. Yeah, it sucks that it leaves that much discretion to the cops but I guess it might be worth kising a little *** next time they pull up to your truck!

Palouse Poo, to stick with your blowing of the topic.......

Get this! The bike is dirt bike BUT it has a license plate. The first time I went to license the bike they sent me packing because the odometer statement wasn't filled in on the title. Huh, I didn't know there was one but, there sure was and I filled in the title and put the 639 miles down.

Next trip, everything was fine until the value on the bill of sale was too low. So now, I have to fill out a detailed form as to exactly WHY I didn't have to pay what the state thinks the bike should have sold for. Bottom line is, they want the sales tax money.

As far as licensing, the previous owner said he just ran the bike as a snowbike with the street license plate. However, I do have a snowpark pass from my sleds but, I don't know what to think about that.

Because you could go as far as buying a street license plate, an ORV sticker and a Snowmobile sticker for a snowbike but, I that seems like overkill and I have no idea what the correct answer is on being legal.

Trying to Insure the bike with the snowbike kit was peculiar enough for me!

Also, the bike does have a 2014 Idaho sticker but, I don't see a groomer permit. Don't I need one?

Man what a hassle! South of you, is the town of rosalia. There is a dmv in the Bank of Fairfield. Talk to Dixie. She would have let you fill in the odometer disclosure, and not question the price! I think my idaho sticker says snomobile on it, so if yours doesnt, its prob not groom trail legal. Good luck
