Upgrading from 10" to 13" trailer tires?

I need to replace the tires on my 12' v-nose single axle open trailer. I have heard that 13" tires are supposed to pull easier and handle better, Floe has made them standard on new trailers I believe. Does anyone have any experience with upgrading or pulling with both 10" and 13"? I am curious if it is actually better. Right now I only need 2 new tires so if I switch to 13's then I will need a new spare too, there goes another $100... Also I am worried about clearance. My trailer is a 99 so I don't believe they were using this size back then. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm in no way a expert but before I sold my open place I was thinking about doing this upgrade to my trailer as well. One of the biggest things I remember people telling me is the heat build up from a smaller tire is much greater then the larger. I never had any issues with my 10 tires but I liked the idea of better clearance. Only downfall I guess would be if you have tilt is possibly a little steeper aproach angle? Sorry can't help you if they would fit clearance wise.

13" tires

Is it a Floe or a Triton trailer? I have the 10" on a Triton tandom. I Have never had a problem, I pull them at 120km/hr all day sometimes 14 hrs. I did look at putting on 13" for snow clearance and you could just buy aluminum spacers and longer u bolts to hold the axles.
Hope this helps
Chris

I looked into it when I had my 4-place open Aluma, but needed a 'lift kit' to give more clearance for the taller tires... I would imagine spacers and bolts would be about it along with the new rubber. I never did it personally because I never had an issue with the 10inch tires on either of the 10 hour road trips I went on.

In 20 years of pulling sled trailers with 8" tires, never had a problem with bearings or tires except one time when running tires that were like 7 years old down the interstate at 75-80mph and the outside temp was around 60-70. Had one of those old tires blow out and it sounded like a shotgun blast and blew a hole right thru the 1/2" plywood deck. Hole was about 7" x 10".

Thanks for the input everyone. I stuck with the 10" tires. FYI cheapest place I found LRD tires was at etrailer and trailerdepot and if you google coupon codes I found an extra 5% off for etrailer but the depot also will price match. Happy trailering everyone!
