Hey all,

Well I'm going to pick up a 2009 dragon rmk 800 tomorrow. It hasn't had the motor update to the dual ring piston yet with new head and reflash. I called the dealer today to make sure the update hasn't been done. I asked them if they can put the new pistons and rings and head and not flash it. They said no, that it had to be flashed to the newest version.. I've been told to not run newest flash from many guys on here. Aha should I do? Current motor has 700 miles on it and guy said it runs great with no bog...

Thanks,
Eric

When I worked for a polaris dealer (sales) my understanding was that to qualify for the warranty extension that came with the update you must get the flash because it gets registered with your sled/vin. The polaris portal has a section where the dealer must update any/all work that is done to a sled. This is kinda like carfax but it is done by polaris itself. It is the polarisdealers.com...unit inquiry. It will show all updates, repairs, warranty work and recalls and the specific date each action took place.

That being said I have a 08 dargon 800 with the newest head and pistons but I am on the 09 flash still. I just did not have them do the flash (but I worked there). I think to cover thier *** they need to do it though

I have already posted the part number of the flash you want.. The Digital Wrench software has all of them loaded in it if the dealer keeps current. I suggest you get the original 2010 flash. That way when you get the PC5 (and you will) the popular maps out there will work best with it. Let me know if you can't find the post and I'll repost for you if you need it.

I've seen that post Jim and when I talked to the dealer they said it has to be the latest flash Polaris has come out with.. I also spoke with another dealer and they said digital wrenches once updated I can't roll back to an older map... They said it won't let it...

That is the best route to go if you can pull it off.

To the original poster, bring in a couple of pizzas and ask nicely. :cheer2:
Although once you go forward it is VERY hard to go back to an older flash without throwing a flag up to Polaris.

I plan on having a flash for the PCV for the original 2009 Flash here shortly.

I believe last I checked, the only flash that was unavailable was the "original factory flash" from '08/'09 prior to the engine update. Polaris had the "update" flash, along with 2 new ones since - I believe any of those are "fair game". It is also my understanding that if I was to get my sled reflashed and the newer flash created problems, that I would be able to go back if I chose to. One would "hope" that the latest flash was the best one, but so far Polaris has failed to produce a new flash that performs equally well in all sleds.
