Update from Wa St parks

Fresh from kvnews.com:

Flood Damage on Cle Elum Ranger District, Sno-Parks affected
Contact: Kim Larned (509) 852-1062

The Forest Service has been actively assessing the flood damage from last week's storm with personnel involved in aerial flight and on-the-ground reconnaissance. However, the full extent of damage is still unknown. Much of the damage won’t be found until the snow melts in spring. Please use caution when traveling on Forest Service roads this season. Roads that access the Sno-Parks may have debris on them and minor road damage; please drive carefully. There may also be damage on groomed snowmobile routes and ski trails.
The following is the status of major recreation facilities:

Hwy 97
Blewett Pass, Pipe Creek and Swauk Campground Sno-parks are closed until Highway 97 re-opens. The Tronsen ski trail system, Old Blewett Pass, and Iron Creek are also inaccessible. Mineral Springs Staging Area is open.

Teanaway
29 Pines Staging Area is open. The Jungle Creek road is washed out at the Rye Creek road and is impassable. The Jack Creek road is damaged. The North Fork Teanaway road has minimal damage for the first 2 miles.

Liberty
Deer Gulch road near Liberty was damaged. Repairs are planned for this week.

Taneum-Manastash
Taneum and Manastash Sno-parks are open.

Cle Elum Valley
Salmon la Sac Sno-park is open. French Cabin Sno-park is temporarily closed until it can be plowed.

I-90 Corridor
Hyak Sno-park is closed. Cabin Creek, Crystal Springs, Kachess, Price Creek West, and Gold Creek Sno-parks are all open. There has been flooding at Crystal Springs and the surrounding trails. The dog sled route out of the Sno-park is impassable. Stampede road #54 is washed out at Mosquito Creek, snowmobiles are able to cross the creek, but the groomer cannot.

Anyone venturing out should use extreme caution. Always check the weather and avalanche forecasts prior to a trip, be prepared with the right gear, and notify a responsible person of your anticipated return time.

For more information, please contact the Cle Elum Ranger Station at (509) 852-1011.

Thanks Megan - How far in from the Taneum Snow Park did you get last night? Looked like snow barely covered the trail west of the Sno-Park. Any long bare spots? Gonna try it tomorrow....

I only got to the Quartz turnoff- it was so icy I only wanted to do a short run, it's hard on dog feet and if they slip they can get injured. :( NO bare spots, the trail itself looked very good and appeared to be gaining depth as I went into the canyon.

Total cement though- and bring ice creepers for the parking lot, it's a frozen lake!

thanks for taking the time to post I hope that all us snowmobilers respect your sport and give you space when we travel on the same trails. I know I enjoy watching the dogs at stampede. :D:beer;:beer;
