Unplugging Ethanol Wire to Run Twin Pipes??

I called Jaws today because I am installing a set of Jaws twins on my 800 1m EFI. The gal on the phone mentioned that I could probably save my money on the boondocker box and just unplug the ethanol wire instead. Has anyone tried this? She claims that the sled should run pretty good simply unplugging that wire and adding the twin pipes. Need some help from the EFI boys!

This doesnt apply to Carb'd sleds? Ive never heard of the Ethanol wire?! :face-icon-small-dis

I think it will work since I know a guy that did this, he used to go by Fresh-Tracks on here, but if it doesn't the price will be steep. What elevation do you usually ride at?

Was Jaws going to give you a new motor if it blows up? Was it a tech that told you that, or a secretary?
I wouldn't do it. Just throwing 3% more fuel at it isn't what a Boondocker box does. There are no fuel maps for boxes that are simply a 3% increase in fuel at all rpm. You will have lean spots and/or rich spots. It isn't going to optimize the power of the pipes. What do they claim, 15 hp? SO maybe it runs "ok" and you get half that? At the risk of damaging your engine? No way.

WOW, you said it way better than I did:face-icon-small-sho

LOL. I took some frustration out on the keyboard. :)
It's just shady how some companies will do or say anything to sell something, even if it damages your rig and keeps you from ever buying anything from them again.

dont do it unless your at 10k and you have a booni box hooked up as well.first off im not sure the 1m 800 had a enthanol plug the other thing with twins its going to be lean in the mid as well as up top and fat on the bottom.

FWIW my friend ran Jaws twins on his King with no box or unplugging the ethanol wire. He did this for several years. He got some porting done and then had to add a box. The sled worked good.

If you do I would be checking my plugs A LOT for the first little bit. I know that speedwerx sells a single for the EFI and they say you ONLY have to unplug the wire. We have been running one on a 06 king for 2 years now with no problems at all. sled runs pretty good to.

Got a Booni Box!! Went with a used boondocker. Now I just need to know the specs to put into it?? Can anyone give me some baseline numbers? The Lady I talked to at Jaws was nice and quite informative. I do not know who she was, but the conversation went as follows: I bought the pipes used locally, and was unsure if they were the 800 pipe, or the D pipes. She told me to measure the throat of the manifolds, turns out they are the 800 pipes. I then asked her about boondocker numbers. She replied that the 800 pipes have worked quite well with simply removing the ethanol plug. She said I could save some money and not get the boondocker box. I told her that I already had the boondocker. She then said she could email me the booni specs, but, days later, still no email.
