Universal Nightmare - chime in Canadians!

:D:eek: Seen it first hand, Had a buddy get ripped by a Russian Boar right under the butt cheek 4"-5" long from a tusk. 2 days before then he was in the skinning shed & slashed his hand bad. Got him to ER & they gave him a shot, Cleaned it out & glued it back together then sent him home.

His idea not mine but we washed the rip out & glued his butt cheek back together
we did the same thing to a buddy out camping! he fell after a drink or 12 and split his chin open. cleaned it out, crazy glued it together and carried on. on monday he went into the drs. office, and the dr told him it looked good and he just left it alone

It's not even 25% bro. They are saying the number without insurance is 47 million. There are about 300 million in the US. So that is about 16%. So we overhaul the whole system for 16%? Not to mention, how many of those 47 million are illegals? To me this is a way for the liberals to gain more control over people...it isn't about health care and doing the "humane" thing.

No Myth: Illegal Immigrants Covered under Obamacare
Clarice Feldman
Since he obviously can't be bothered reading the bills he insists we need to support, Obama might be forgiven for characterizing as a myth something which is not one. Mark Tapscott highlights a report establishing that ObamaCare will cover illegal immigrants.

Among the many claims being made durng the August recess by Democrats from President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, to the lowliest back-bencher is that Obamacare absolutely, positively, cannot possibly ever in a million, zillion years provide coverage to illegal immigrants.

Just this past weekend during his regular Saturday address - devoted to addressing what he called "false claims about reform" - Obama said he wants "an honest debate" on health care reform, "not one dominated by willful misrepresentations and outright distortions."

In what he called the "first myth" being spread by critics of his proposal for a government-run health care system, Obama said they are wrong in claiming illegal immigrants will be covered: "That is not true. Illegal immigrants would not be covered. That idea has not even been on the table." Obama said.

Well, Mr. President, that idea must have been tucked under a stack of background briefing papers over there in the corner of the table because the Congressional Research Service (CRS) says this about H.R. 3200, the Obamacare bill approved just before the recess by the House Energy and Commerce Committee chaired by Rep. Henry Waxman, D-CA:

"Under H.R. 3200, a 'Health Insurance Exchange' would begin operation in 2013 and would offer private plans alongside a public option...H.R. 3200 does not contain any restrictions on noncitzens-whether legally or illegally present, or in the United States temporarily or permanently-participating in the Exchange."

CRS also notes that the bill has no provision for requiring those seeking coverage or services to provided proof of citizenship. So, absent some major amendments to the legislation and a credible, concrete enforcement effort in action, looks like the myth on this issue is the one being spread by Obama, Reid, Pelosi, et. al.

Interesting topic going here, I have to agree with the fact that emergency care in Canada is quite good, but long term illness care could be much better. My mother in law broke her wrist while on holiday in Pheonix, she recieved Cadillac care at the Mayo clinic. Thank God she was covered by Alberta health care as the final amount billed was over 60 grand!!! this is true I saw the paper work. It's also interesting how the arguments go on each side of the border. In the U.S. you read the right wingers wailing about socializing medical care. In canada any time the government wants to de-list something the left wingers carry on about reducing our system to two tiered American style health care. Seems there is no right answer to this, but I would not want some private insurance company looking at it's bottom line, deciding it was not going to pay for my care after I payed premiums for coverage. Does this happen to Americans?

Wow that sucks!! I am as right wing as most on here, but some things should not be left up to private, for profit corperations. Here in Alberta our provincial government decided it would be a good idea to privatize our elecrical and natural gas production and distribution. Since that time my utility bills have more than doubled, it's not as if I can just decide I don't need gas or elecricity. I read somewhere that Canada's health care system was ranked at #27 and the US system was #31 on results achieved for $ spent. Both countries should be able to do better than this

 Ok sorry your friends got the shaft but if they did not play by the rules whos @ fault?
They wanted to deliver @ home.....
They ended up @ the hospital....
They did NOT do pre-appointments to be sure they were covered in case of emergency

5 years ago we had the chance to do a home delivery that would have been covered if we wanted BUT we had to play by their rules.

The only thing I can relate this to is a guy came into the GM dealer with a Duramax having a trans problem he wanted warranty done on.
1st the truck had a lift kit on it
2nd he had oversized tires
3rd he had a chip in it
4th he had big exhaust
5th my service Rep was standing in the bay when he pulled in & voiced his problem.

Walt my service rep walked over pulled the vin & put out a NO Service Warning to all the local dealers & I was the Bad guy in this guy eyes?

Our problems stem from the Governments involvement in NOT letting there be competition from insurance companys to provide better rates & coverage.

You think the system is F'd now you just wait untill they control the whole deal! :face-icon-small-win

Hey I have my first son due in 2 weeks..... Wish me luck :D

Thats the problem right there with healthcare systems.60 grand for a broken wrist........What does an x-ray cost not much,a cast next to nuthing, even if surgery was involved and you had to pay someone 100 bucks an hour thats nothing, mabye couple stainless steal screws thats a few cents. So where does this 60 grand come from????????????????????

I think I might convert the sled trailer to a two bed hospital.Wife is a nurse and I watched Greys Anatomy once so should be good to go.

I don't like hearing about the bleeding hearts for all the poor people who don't have health care insurance. Truthfully they very well may have better and cheaper care than the rest of us do who have insurance. Forty years ago when my kids were little and I bought my first hospital insurance, my son had a ruptured appendix. It cost me 1500.00 dollars and they weren't very damn nice about it either. Later one of my neighbors kids had the same thing and they had no insurance. They didn't pay a cent and it is no different than that in Lander today. If any one thinks Medicare is so good, if you want to get someone with Medicare into a nursing home there is nearly a years wait. If you can pay cash you can put someone into the same nursing home tomorrow. I know this for a fact because we just did it. And he wants to cut 500 billion from Medicare, hello. Obama's health reform is just pure 100 percent Bull****. He is just about taking over your life and the rest of the country to boot. YOU PEOPLE HAVE TO WAKE UP!

Both sides of the parallel have their arguments for and against their medical systems. I was an RN before I became a firefighter and my wife is an RN of 25 years. In our experience, the Canadian system is gravely weighed down by top heavy government health care Fat Cats. Here in BC our emergency system attempts to triage patients who come into emergency for care. Broken limbs, bleeding eyeballs, hair on fire get priority over a runny nose. Used to be if the runny nose showed up before the open skull fracture the runny nose got priority. Now with the 6 to 8 hour waits to get your nose blown by a Dr. a lot of the abusers no longer show up..... many still do however. As mentioned earlier, where our health care totally falls apart is when it comes to wait lists to see specialists, to get a CT Scan or an MRI. Cancer can do a ton of damage in 6 months when left un-checked. Fire some of the high end rich managers and free up some of that cash for more diagnostic equipment. It's not rocket science. My biggest B!tch with health care on both sides of the border is not even system related.Too many people refuse to take responsibility for their own health! Lose some dam weight. Quit smoking. Lead a healthier lifestyle and you won't be such a burden to the system. My wife and I have seen it first hand all too often...the obese 30 year old man/woman with diabetes coming into the hospital and demanding the system make them better.:mad::mad: System is obligated to treat their infections, amputations and skin breakdowns so there they lay taking up a bed which some poor "unfortunate by circumstance soul" really needs. One more thing...as Canadians traveling outside your country, know how your travel insurance coverage works and what is and isn't covered. Cheapest is not usually the best.

us insurance

here's one that hits real close to home...here in Colorado....a few years back my ridin bud goes a little wide on some off camber terrain and hits a huge granite rock at about 40 mph.....breaks most of his ribs, collar bone, punctured lung....bad....intensive care for two weeks....now he's had health insurance for many years...Mutual of Omaha I believe....they refused to pay any claims, they paid nothing on the grounds that snowmobiling is high risk activity, although there is nothing about this in his policy....he was stuck with huge bills and over time paid them out of his own pocket......private health insurers discriminate against the sick and the old....mine has gone up over 500% since I first got it in 1999....and I fear they may eventually drop me because of my age...I pay $515/month and they dictate all terms...on the last notice of premium increase they suggested that I shop around for a better deal with another company.....and some of you think this is better than a public system? not to mention that the private insurers have completely corrupted our government....you realize that some collection agency will take all your stuff, if you have anything to take, to pay your outstanding medical bills....private insurers place profit far above any reasonable, moral and ethical principles....it could be alot better for us guys in the middle.

(Quote) ...I pay $515/month

Holy Crap!
That's dam near a mortgage payment!

^^^^ Aint that the truth! When you have no real competition you can charge whatever the market will bear!

We should all have the same policy our elected crooks have, Make the DC Elite turn over every dollar the lobbyist have given them & we are all set with MEGA funding!

So let me get this straight:

Obama's health care plan will be written by a committee whose head says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it, and whose members will be exempt from it;

It will be signed by a president who smokes, funded by a treasury chief who did not pay his taxes, overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that is broke.

What could possibly go wrong?:confused::confused:
