Our group is looking for a new place to ride and we are looking at the Unitas to try the end of Jan beginning of feb we will becoming off of I-80 and heading south. What is the better area to ride vernal, mirror lake, or some other area close to these?
Also is there a lodge on the north side of the range to stay at that we can ride in and out of or do we have to trailer everyday? Also if there is a guide service or if some of you snowesters are bored and want to come show us around that would be great.

January all you're gonna do around Vernal is road ride on red cloud loop, we don't get enough snow on the eastern side of the Uintahs to really do much other than that until late feb early march.

Most people from the basin head over to wolf creek pass and ride out of there, usually quite a bit more snow a little farther west.

it is hit or miss around vernal but if you make it this way and want a tour i will take you up. have to trailer every day from here but it is less than 15 minutes to where you unload.

Thanks jmag for the offer will let you know when we go out. Is there riding between vernal and heber or is that all wilderness area?

There is some great riding between Heber and Vernal. Strawberry, Coop/tower mountain, and wolf creek to name a few.

Sounds good where is the best place to stay on the north side of the range to ride these areas?

The Bear River Lodge that GP mentioned is about 40 minutes south of I-80 and is at the door step of the North Slope. Great accomodations, and great riding areas right out your door. As mentioned above, the Vernal side doesn't get the snow the North and West slopes get. Play here for a couple of days then move to Heber and ride Tower / Lake Creek areas.

We know Wolf Creek area really well and could show you around. We ride pretty much every weekend so shoot me a message closer to when you are going to be here and we can take you out to a few places. We ride all over the place though so let me know in advance so we can plan out our trips. Really you cant go wrong in any of those areas and there will be many people that would be willing to take you around.
