undertunnel nitro exhaust

Does anybody know, or has anybody attemped to use the stock exhaust & just bend the pipe off the headder straight & go straight back under the tunnel & 90 out the side of the tunnel at the rear? Sounds like a simple procedure & much cheaper than buying something if it would work.

I made an under tunnel exhaust and used a 2 brothers racing from a cbr600.it has the 2 inch intake and a little bigger exit. Sounds great and I gained about 400 rpm from the previous ride. I would say a definate power gain. No problem plugging up either.

So you just straightened out the pipe & put on the new muffler?

yep. I made 2 exhaust hangers from the origional exhaust hangers. 1 on the muff and the other on the end of the header. I bought the muff on ebay for $30 bucks.

Sounds like I have a new project
Thanks
the only reason i didn't build my own is because i bought the seat and the exhaust for a grand total of $550 including the shipping. it was lightly used but who cares you cant argue at that price for a boss seat and an exhaust. using pieces from your stock exhaust and 2"x3 inch rectagnular aluminum for the muffler. make end caps and your set. or use a bike exhaust.

I thought about the bike exhaust, but they usually do not have any sort of outlet, and I want to extend out from the muffler and exit out the side or sides of the tunnel

There is one here that installed the muffler underneath.

You can either look at it here

cant see the pics unless we register for the site. would love to see them.

i still cant believe no speed shops have come up with an under tunnel (or side tunnel exit) exhaust, and a seat with storage and tunnel close off. i would be first in line for a high quality kit. ski

how much would you pay, i made exactly what your describing, titanium muffler, exiting under the tunnel, and capped off the big hole, the whole setup wieghs 2 pounds, i do need to rebuild the tail pipe and make it exit from the side, it collects to much ice the way it is, i have thought about producing some but they would be expensive useing titanium

personally, would rather see it made of stainless. price would be based on your build costs, performance gains or loss, weight savings and demand of product. keep us posted with pics and possible costs, if you decide to persue this. ski

I just cut the flange off the 2 1/2 inch on my mcx and welded a 3 inch stainless 90 degree elbow onto it dumping out the side of the tunnel, works good.
