unburnt oil leak

upon doing preseason maintenance and running engine, I have noticed an excessive amount of unburnt oil dripping from the exhaust manifold and pipe joint. the oil is pooling in the belly pan. oil is black. prior to running the sled, the belly pan was dry. last year I did turn up the oiler and installed a vented cap. sled did not use excessive amounts of oil. I think I calculated about 38:1 ratio.

any thoughts on the leak?

thanks

Pretty normal, the pipe seal doesnt always seal well until hot. Many put a bead of high temp silicon to aid in sealing.

If it smoked more than normal at startup, it could just be that one of the check valves was letting oil leak past and into the bottom end.

That excess oil was pushed through the exhaust and dripped at the joint before the seal heated up and sealed.

thanks guys. it was indeed smoking a whole lot more than normal. i figured that was from sitting and fuel stabilizer

mine had a ton of clear oil coming out of the muffler after I started it for the first time this year.
