UBR 900 - pistons - orings

So I bought a UBR 900 top end. I need to get pistons, do I have any other options other then fastrax? Same with head orings, they want $125 for o-rings, anyone know the size of head orings needed? I'm sure I could find some viton orings somewhere for cheaper. Do they take a special base gasket or oem?

Wiseco will make you any piston you need for $$$, some ski-doo pistons may work but you might want to research that as I may be thinking about the triples. What case is it poo or cat? Curt at Fastrax is your best bet.

I measured the o-rings a few years ago and found an exact fit viton o-ring in the Grainger catalog, I can't recall the size though. You can cut your own base gasket from proper thickness material, they are different than stock. You may be able to modify a stock gasket with an exacto knife, sorry I don't have better info. it'a been a while.

Hopefully someone will remember what size o-rings these take. I'm having a hard time stomaching the $125 for 4 orings and two base gaskets. Pistons are $210 each.

I'm trying to keep the rebuild around $300-400 idealy, nearly $600 for two pistons, and gaskets seems steep. Is this what I have to pay to play in the mod world?

This is a std 800 ves based UBR 900 kit.

I used to own a Polaris based UBR 900, from my experience, it wasent a motor that liked to be messed with or cheaped out on. little things like the thickness of the cyl base gsk can make a pretty big difference in performance, depending on how it was set up. best bet is to get the history on the motor and talk to Curt at fastrax.

you should consider yourself lucky that they even have the pisons and gaskets in stock....Union bay has been closed and stopped making those kits many years ago. I remember paying a lot for pistons for one of my UBR big bores. If you try to save a buck here it will likely come back to bite you later

Fastrax has been carrying on the torch for UBR and I think they will continue to do so, well at least I hope so..

I was just inquiring because for all I know the pistons used in these kits could have been a OEM piston from another model or make of machine. I had a bigger bore one off UBR motor before and it used sea doo pistons...

I'm still riding UBR's 850 kit on an 800 case. I used the stock base gaskets and just cut them. The pistons for my kit were alson from a sea-doo. The piston pins had to be relocated so I had to get them from Fastrax, as well as special wrist pin bearings. I was able to find the o-rings at a local auto parts store by measuring them. Have had good luck.
