Two way clutch alignment..........

Does anyone else do this? I've found mis-alignment verticlly as well as the normal front to back. I've often thought that this might be the reason that some sleds work better with all else the same.

mine was way out, pulled the motor mount brackets drilled new holes and had the old ones welded up, that's how far out they were, but get this , got 1000 miles out of a belt that way

That makes a lot of sense. Sure would be something to check if you are having belt troubles. It wouldn't take much of a tweak in the bulkhead to get things way out of line. I bought an 03 900 from a guy who drilled the bulkhead full of holes and cut out the tube that the sway bar runs through. With the plastic off and the engine out you could twist the front of the bulkhead side to side more than an inch. So don't take that out to save weight! I have seen more than one bulkhead that had a slight twist in it. Sorry about the rambling on.

Never checked it. It doesn't even say anything in the manual about it. But it kind of makes sense. You would want the primary fixed sheave to be straight up and down and parallel with the secondary in the vertical direction also.

Yep. Had that trouble on more than 1 sled. Can definetely make a belt eater out of them. I almost think that alignment screws them up worse than the other way.
