i found some old 2 cycle injector oil in my shop (probably 7 years old) put half a quart in my 06 800 summit.after about one hour of riding (at 7500 ft. altitiude) it started cutting out and stallling bad.could it be the oil?maybe bad gas? thanks

I wouldn't use 7 year old oil.
Yes it was probably the oil. Do yourself a favor and trash the rest of it.
Did you drive the sled before? Bad gas (fresh) is really really rare. You usually get bad gas by letting it sit in the tank for too long.
Oil will last for a bit (year or two tops) as long as it is out of the sun, inside. Temperature control is good. If you have a lot of temperature (hot/cold) cycles it is hard on the oil as well.

the gas was probably 5-6 months old. i sucked most of the old oil out of the resevior and put new ams synthetic oil in and ran the sled for 5minutes around the yard and it was still running poor.i would imagine i will have to run the sled long enough to get the old oil completely through the injector lines.does anyone think i will need to clean anything else on the engine as a result of using the old oil? thanks

If you gas was 5 or 6 months old then I would say that is probably more of an issue than old oil. I still would not use the old oil. But gas sitting in the tank for 6 months is most likely the problem.

oil knows no age,,use it..not like gas..the oil we use in our vehicles could have been stock piled for 20 years just waiting for the price to go up
Buddy just found a case of vintage in can's Artic Cat Race Injector oil for $10
at a yard sale. Ran it through his stable of 3 2000 700 RMK poo's no problems.
Bonus was he found an oil can collector that paid him $10 a can for the empty cans!!! If you find a stash of oil 'CANS' drain them with a punch from the bottom and put the empty cans on e-bay for the collectors.

As long as oil is sealed it won't go bad
