Twisted Turbos

How much shorter do you think the tube is?? Not enough to even notice. I am not saying anything bad about the twisted kits at all. But on the intercooler I notice a night and day difference not on the first run up the hill on the M8 but on the second run after the temps get hot the intercooler helps allot. Charge temp is 230 deg average it can very depending on the day on the intercooler I am seeing a 70deg drop BD says a 100deg but I have yet to see that but still 70deg is allot. It does give you more a touch more lag but very hard to tell it when running them side by side.

This is the real charge temps I am seeing on a long pull take it for what it's worth. I am also making sure there is allot of vents and a fan on the intercooler that blows allot of air over it.

I do not have a fan on my intercooler yet, as im unable to find one that will fit and I wont pay for the overpriced boondocker fan…im not cheap, but I wont pay for other peoples mortgage to support my habit.

Now I would agree on an intercooler fan will greatly reducing inlet temps and add HP and longer the life of reeds, but the HP numbers on BD’s website are bloated in respect to a 2smoke turbo…they are calculating the inlet temp vs. HP gain/loss with the same coefficient as Garrett uses on a typical car…big time difference.

Im hapy to hear you have a 70 degree drop across the intercooler, that alone makes me want to keep it:beer;

And yes, a smaller charge tube will make a huge difference on the starting line, and even more difference (better) when boondocking

I appreciate all the replys. They help alot. Which would you rather have a 153 or 162. What about the reeds, do they have lots of problems with them failing.

the reed Longevity to directly proportional to boost levels and/or intake temps….most will say to buy some higher end tony duka reeds, the stock M1000 reeds are way cheap and lasting about 300-400 miles for me, im running 12 lbs and 112 race gas….also understand my intercooler is creating more heat at lower speeds as I don’t have a fan yet

Also, my reeds are a pain to change with the older boondocker setup, im not sure if the newer setup has a more narrow air box so you can slide if forward more....for more room

But, i must admit the tsited kit should be way easier to chagne reeds as the oil injection is gone so all the hoses ans stuff that is wedged up against the oil res will now have room...maybe shain can comment on this, im not sure

i went to a 163 XP last year and am on a camo X 162 this year....i will never go back to anything shorter. Also, the 08 and older Ms come with a joke of a track, the P-claw and camo X are the ticket

that alone has me sold....this summer my BD kit will be getting twisted:beer;

oh no another twisted whore coming to the forum.... lol

shanes stuff works well but wait til you see my M8 at the shootout with the CPC dual injector throttle bodies..... other turbo companies will be buying these, they are bad a$$. There are only two sets in existence right now and guess whos sled gets one? Dales is the other one ;)

I would love to ride a twisted 8. I would love to try them all. I rode an rtr at Cooke and that thing had zero lag. It pulled hard right from the bottom. The charge tube does look like twice the length of the twisted kit. Is there that much difference in bottom end or is it more on the race kits with the intercoolers? I will have a turboed cat for next year. I am over the nytro. Who has the easier fuel controller. I know derrick is working on a closed loop controller. When is everone going to get to play with the 2010 cats and see how turbo friendly they are?

How is the belt heat for everyone on the TM8 or the TM10, regaurdless of who's kit it is. What kind of life are you seeing out of belts?

I raced Shain's T1200 yesterday. His 1200 is WAY faster then his 1000. I was at 17 psi and he was at 13.5 (I think) and were very close. Depending on who got out of the hole was who won. Very impressive. Not trying to make excuses, but I was bouncing off the rev limiter, need to add some more weight for this spring snow, last time I rode I was clutched for 2 ft of powder lol. Could of tried turning the boost down but he would of beat me for sure:beer;.

One thing I would like to add is, that I did notice when riding the Twisted Sleds the other day we changed altitude by quiet a bit throughout the day, snow conditions varied, & the actual humidity was all over the board that day. The consistency was solid! Actually up until my Twisted experience, I too, had presumptions of past experiences with modded motors & those tendencies to be temperamental to these factors. This was one personal reason I have held off to take the Turbo jump in the first place. However, my apprehensions have been eased after riding a Twisted set up & I am very confident with going this direction now (inconsistency gremlins=wasted ride time).

I actually turned down another turbo kit that was going to be given to me this season. My reason for this was due to the inconsistency of it's performance in several applications & on different sled models (cat, poo, ect).

I am not just pumping Twisted up because we are working together on my sled build. I chose to work with Twisted based on several factors, one was product performance & the other was attentiveness at customer relations/service, not just to me, but the others in the NW area raved about their experiences & Twisted kits performance. Shain very much encouraged me to research and contact the other companies, before I made the final decision & talk to them to find what would work best for me.

One other thing that really stuck with me was, Shain has demonstrated enthusiasm to help anyone, not just those with his product or interested in his product. I got the the strong impression he is looking forward for everyone & the bigger picture in this area of the industry, not just Twisted Turbos. I witnessed this on several occasions just in the last couple of weeks. Very impressive.

I would love to see the day everybody's sled runs great, esp on those epic powder days when nobody likes to be 'parking lot grounded'! Maybe like Hatchers pointed out taking a little of everything (including the monkey;)) things are gonna rock down the road!! Twisted Turbos is definitely thinking in this direction.

I also have noticed Whittaker727 sled has ran flawless all season when he is out with us riding.

I like to ride, not tune. Just my Lehman's view & some reasons why I making the choice to go with the Pump Gas Twisted M1000!:D

what? a new product from CPC? wheres the 8 threads with a ride report on yet another CPC must-have...;):D:beer;

freak we have had dual injector tb al season and your right they do add power and consistantcy

My belt life on TM1200 at 7-10 lbs boost has been great, motor mounts and engine alignment are a big factor. I have blown only 2 belts on this sled since turbo and 1 was a bad belt (1 ride and blew new looking chunks everywhere on small hill at 1/2 throttle) and other was not having tether and flipping sled upside down at full throttle and not getting to key before belt blew out bellypan. Went riding yesterday in deep heavy snow and my sled was only one not having belt issues. 3 other stock M1000 blew 5 belts between them.

Read this and had to run out and look in my sled, thought I had been running 4 injectors all season but if there were only two sets in existence, I must have been wrong :eek:

Oh , 4 injectors in there! Freak, I must have the other set:D

Freak you bashed on me at the first of this thread and now its my turn, even I new about the dual inject. Even though I don't have a Turbo

Thanks to everyone for there two cents. So it would be good to just use the stock 1000 reeds. I can't wait to be able to start this sled build.

I called Dale the day i saw an add for the dual injector t bodies , i was so happy ! And then he told me it was just for the M1 . So , when is the rollout? Is there just two throttle body sizes or 3 for the 8 ? I hope to god its not stock bore with 4 fuel sticks .

A few options for bore would be perfect , how many bores are avalible for the M1?
