Twisted Turbos

Lets here what everybody thinks about there kits they have. How they have run. I am going to get Twisted, can't decide to on a 8 or 1000. I know shane well and am very impressed with his kits. He has the best costumer service out of any turbo dealer out there hands down.

How do you know he has the best customer service if you dont even have one of his turbos. I like shane ok but man Im about to puke from all the twisted blowing around here......

Freak Just because I don't have a turbo right now don't mean anything. Also any time I have had ? or wanted to try them, he has been more than willing to take me out and let me ride them. Also the ones that I have dealt with seem to think they are better than you or are just to busy for your ?. Sorry if I HURT your feel bads

My feeling is that the 091000 is so light now the 8 is a waste. I really like my 09tm1000. I think it is the best boondocking sled built. If you are a smaller guy then maybe the 8 but I haven't seen anyone who can't put the 091000 anywhere they want

After working on OVS, Twisted and Boondocker kits, and I admit I am a bit biased but I have to say that I wouldn't sell a product to my customers that I myself would not buy or run. Twisted setup is a cleaner install, more user friendly for setup and is easier to work around in case there are any issues than the other ones I have personally worked on. Because the kit is so complete it eliminates any extra spending some of the other guys would have you do. All the kits can be made to work just fine but some take more work than others and I purposely learned the hard way about most of the issues you can have with a turbo kit that is poorly put together and which manufacturers are most willing to help even with the dumb questions and who don't automatically tell you it is installed wrong. Even if it is installer problem, courtesy and respect in your answers are still required.

All you are going to hear on here is how great they are.
Freak seems up front with his issues, as has been hatchers, and a friend of mine with a tdragon 8.
Would like to see others running any kit be the same way and tell the bad with the good.
I and friends have seen some turbos (not saying which brand of kit) on the end of a rope, but none of that seems to be told on a forum.
Could be simple, inexpensive issues, but when all you hear is good, then you see bad, it makes one wonder.

IMO, the trick setup would be...

- Cutlers cold air intake intake
- colder intake temps somehow, the intercooler under a hood is silly
- Twisted Clutching
- Boondocker rear tunnel dump exhaust...i know the cutler setup works but less noise is nice
- a trained monkey to change reeds
- a molded spare fuel take that fits where the stock intake was
- a closed loop fuel controller
- Twisted Oil delete

this is so true, but....IMO, most issues are not related to the turbo kit itself.

- i would say most issues ive had this year are related to my turbo 2smoke noob status, and the boondocker forward driver exhuast dump will not work for me in DEEP POW(i moved it)...the y-pipe exhaust donuts kicked my butt for a few rides and i now know when to change reeds...and these stock M1000 that cutlers suggested reeds will not last more then 300 miles on my current setup...not that the TD reeds last more then 500 miles...oh well, the power is redunkculous

I' am running a BD turbo on my m8, running 15-17lbs Boost. You need a intercooler to make horse power on long runs!!!!!!!!! You guys are not running good fuel or big boost, so you don't need a intercooler.

what reeds are you running at 17lbs? how many miles?

And running the intercooler under an M hood is a joke, no way that thing gets much air flow, if anything, it add more heat and contains too much volume for proper boondocking......i will admit my sled running way cooler with the DS hood, but the fit is horrid and will break if you roll it

turbo m how bout we compare the intercooler to the non intercooler and see as I have many times at high or low boost, I do run good fuel and lots of boost and I have no problems making long pulls in deep snow,....

I would guess the intercooler as dropin boost pressure by about .05 PSI, most will say it drops 2psi of boost, but id say these people got that quote from a turbo manufacture who makes this measured calculating from a freakin car, a car has 1000X the volume of a sled turbo….back to the topic

The twisted setup removes the oil injection and allows a much shorter charge tube, this will drastically reduce the time it takes to build full boost potential as the volume in-between the compressor outlet and engine intake is much smaller, and greatly reduce turbo lag its as simple as saying you can now stuff 10 pounds of potatoes into a smaller bag quicker then a larger bag.

Now lets talk about the intercooler topic, we all know it adds a ton of volume that increases turbo lag, we all know aluminum is a natural heat sink….so id say the current boondocker intercooler setup is horrid for boondocking at boondocking speeds.

IMO, something out-side-of-da-box needs to be done to cool the charge tube and compressor temps….besides extra HP, I would be changing my reeds less, I love that idea

Yes and No, All you are saying is what the folks at boondockers say…they also say the Boondocker kit is the only kit working in Deep Powder…LMFAO! What a bunch of tools!

Yes the compressor will get hotter and hotter at WOT, but im thinking the intercooler needs some real flow to work worth a flip, and the current flat pancake design is silly, yes a fan would help, but a true design would have inteak ducting going outside and some pre-filter, and a flow switch to turn the fan off when flow is reduced so you wont over work the fan and burn it up

How much shorter do you think the tube is?? Not enough to even notice. I am not saying anything bad about the twisted kits at all. But on the intercooler I notice a night and day difference not on the first run up the hill on the M8 but on the second run after the temps get hot the intercooler helps allot. Charge temp is 230 deg average it can very depending on the day on the intercooler I am seeing a 70deg drop BD says a 100deg but I have yet to see that but still 70deg is allot. It does give you more a touch more lag but very hard to tell it when running them side by side.

This is the real charge temps I am seeing on a long pull take it for what it's worth. I am also making sure there is allot of vents and a fan on the intercooler that blows allot of air over it.

jw thats funny all my testing with the intercooler got slower the more runs I made at a hill until I stoped and let it cool off
