Turn up oil pump with Pasco vented oil cap

Any one still turning up their oil pump after venting the oil cap or tank? I have the vented cap on my 2014 Assault but have not had a chance to try it out yet. Just picked up the wifes 2016 600 Pro and will put a Pasco Racing vented cap on it as well. Just wondering if worth while to turn up oil once oil tank vented. Opinions please.:der:

I turned up my pump and had to turn it back down, after adding the Paaso vent. I suggest that you just run it and see where you're at before touching the pump. I'm at 50:1.

I am turned up and have the vented cap. I did have to turn the pump down when I added the cap though.

I think 3 before and 1.5-2 after.

It was turned up when I got it so didn't really pay attention. I put the cap on and was leaving a streak up every hill I climbed (was over fueled too). Reduced oiling one turn and reduced fuel at wot.

i got the vented cap last year. i turned my oiler up the standard 3 turns. the notch is towards the top of the “v”.

should i leave it alone? or turn the oiler down?

Leave it and run it, keep track of oil vs fuel usage for a tank or two and see where it puts you.

I really would not worry about too much oil unless you got below 20:1.

32-36:1 would be a good realistic target that would give you a balance of protection and $$ IMO.

Search the thread "vented oil cap issues?" In this forum, pics are posted there.

Both vented and turned up on three pros, 2 800s, 1 600. Only way I could get to ~35:1 on each. Obviously, I like the motors using lots of oil, and have no issue paying more to run it, don't care much about smoke or fumes. VES and Legend.

I suggest that if you're even considering turning up the oil delivery, calc ratios routinely, over multiple days, if you can. It varies from terrain and snow conditions on a given day. It's the only way to really know what you're actually running. Number of turns do vary by sled. Every one has the arm V "past" the alignment mark at idle.

Is this really a factor on the 2014's/ 2015's
seems like alot of eyeballing/ tracking oil levels for something that should not be an issue when you run a vented cap.... i possibly am missing the point here- but want to be on the safe side as picking up 2- Pro's 2014's in the morning.

Thanks

So no link anywhere to buy said oil cap? Im not one to have to call and email and explain what I need. But if its a quick link im sold

order through paasoracing on the forums. He's a member on the site, just search paaso and pm him asking for the cap.

Sage.... Here is my take on it.

To meet EPA madated emission levels, on an engine that is DESIGNED to burn oil.... The OEM's have to run these engines more and more lean on oil as the regulations get tighter and tighter.

The only downsides I can see to turn up the oiler (within reason) are
1) More smoke emissions
2) Slightly more oil cost as use goes up a bit.

The upside is better ring sealing, better lubrication for the crank and for the pistons, and better ring sealing.

For me, the decision is easy... turn up the oiler...I want as much durability out of the engine as possible. . and as said above by Reg2view.... do your oil ratio calcs over multiple rides to get a better "true" ratio.

Yup it's a no brainer! Turn it up and add 1 oz per gallon to the tank.

Thanks gents-
SO my question has this been an issue with the pro's as to why the concern or is what your are protraying standard across the board-
Just asking.... as I don't know if this is an issue with squeaking the 800 from Polaris-
Been riding for many moons and last Oiler I turned up was on the 97 summit X and then wit the dreaded M1000-
Yep been away from the Polaris line Since the Edge days....and want to ensure compete coverage-
I run Blue Marble..

Thanks
