Looking for some advice, currently on a 2010 800 146 xp. Love the power of the sled, but other than that it really doesnt have much except for reliability. I have a friend who gets a new sled every year or so, so I am thinking about getting his 2013 800 144 for dirt cheap.

Will i miss the power of my ptec? Any mods to beef it up?

What about reliability any thing to be worried about?

I'm not worried about the handling part, anythings gotta be easier than my xp lol
Thanks for your input

Sled and riders are like shoes and feet... differnt sleds suit diffrent people and riding styles.

Before buying... You should try hard to demo both the new XM and PRO RMK.
The XM is a vast improvement over the XP ...just as the PRO is over the Dragon.

After riding, you will be able to 'feel' which one suits you best.

My 2 cents.

I came off a very well built and great handling 09 Summit, to my 2013 PRO, and I have never regretted it in any way....power, included. The PRO is so much fun to ride, and handles better than my xp did, even with FOX all the way around, tons of mods, aftermarket skis, 15" wide track, etc. I put good shocks on my PRO, nothing but normal preventative maintenance, gas and oil, and pound it, and it is an absolute blast.

I believe you are talking about a 144 RMK 800 or a Switchback Assault both with torsion rear suspension, not a PRO? While it is not a steep and deep intended machine it is still a great sled for its intended purpose. Can you get some seat time, I think the usable power will surprise you. :face-icon-small-coo

Went from 2010 skidoo summit to 2011 pro. Loved the change, never noticed less power. Now on 2013 pro, still love it. i ride 8k-10000 feet and mountains, your riding may be different. Actually had more issues with skidoo, owned 2006, 2008 and 2010, Never had my pro in the shop.

I went from 06 Ski Doo 800 151"to 11 Pro 800 155. Sold an Impala and now riding a Corvette. Ha! Pro not as trail friendly as the 06 but don't miss the trenching and stucks the Doo often gave me. I don't compare shop time cuz any sled can break or act up. The best advice I can give is, ride anything you think you will buy before you buy.
