So theres used sleds for sale everywhere and theres Used turbo kits everywhere. I see lots of sleds for sale that use to have turboes on them but theres no mention of that in the adds. What are peoples thoughts on this should that info be in there add or is it a case of well if they dont ask i not telling?

I know mine got separated and I put up a note on it. I think its flat out unethical to not tell people. I understand separating because they are worth more money but hiding the fact that the motor was putting out double its stock HP for part of its life is rather deceptive. I know it would affect my choice when buying used.

But I also sell used stuff cheap and just want it gone and out of my hair. Im not into selling used mod sleds to make money.

I agree that it's unethical to not tell people. I understand the need to separate the turbo from the sled to recoup more of the cost, and stock sled are easier to sale than a modified sled. But tell people upfront about it and why you are doing it.

There are some real dirtbags out there though. I went to look at a used M1000 for my brother a few years ago. The exhaust side panel had a huge hole in it. I asked the guy about the turbo and why he pulled it. He stuttered and stammered that it never had a turbo on it, it was just a can that he got rid of. He said he was going to replace the panel but hadn't gotten around to it. I'm sure he replaced the panel and sold it to some unknowing person.

and with many kits now, like my own, there is no traces of it, the kit was straight bolt on so really I could fly under the rader but I guess its more or less a thread should be called,

How to tell if your a dirtbag or not.

turboless m8

I didn't put it in my listing on craigslist after I split my tm8, but it was the 1st thing i told people when they contacted me. Definitely affected the resale adversely disclosing the turbo history, but got about $1000 more by splitting it and actually had several people interested & asking questions. No one wanted a 2008 tm8 sled complete last fall.

It is 100% bad form IMO to cover that up, or not offer up the info....no question.

When I was selling cars for a living I always got a kick out of people saying car sales guys were slimy. We were highly regulated and wanted to stay in biz...so always kept things super legit....but I swear the majority of private individuals are completely lawless when it comes to saving a buck peddling their personal junk. And used powersport equipment really brings out the winners.

People thought it was totally ok to not tell you they dumped a couple liters of oil stabilizer in their engine so it wouldn't smoke when they traded it in. Or that they ripped the lift kit out of it the night before and forgot to tighten 1/2 the stuff back up. Box drilled for a 5th wheel hitch and extra overload springs in a 1-ton dually "never towed heavy." Uh hu.

I swear any sled site with a classified section has more "wife sleds" for sale at any time than "non-wife sleds" - it's like magic!
