Would sure like to hear from those riders with turbo bikes. How did these wokout last year? Please share specifics. Tuning headaches? Reliability? Status of low to mid range power? Harder to manage power in tight places?

Thanks a bunch for any info.

I've already started dumping money this spring into a special bank account for the possibility of a turbo next season. Why next season? Cause I want to see what happens for the first production year for the snowbike turbo from Boondocker. There are several homebrew turbo's out there but Boondocker seems to be the most refined product I've seen. I already know 4 people who are picking them up for next season and I want to see what kind of problems they experience. If it requires a sh!t ton of tinkering to keep it running, I'm out.

How about somebody build a turbo kit for a CR500 or KX500. I know next to nothing about turbo's but it seems like it would be fairly simple with the new oil-less turbo's from comp.

the need for a fuel pump, regulator and gauges makes the power and plumbing side of things sorta a pain on the bikes. space is at a premium!

with the injected bikes things are moved down to mostly just a controller to tune things in.

Not a lot of turbo riders out there and few commersial turbo kits. Most of them are R&D for season 2014.
I think turbo bikes is the way to go.
Of course not a cheap option for the average snowbiker but tons of power. Not the least lots of fun! Me as a flatlander I can imagine the advantage riding at 10000 ft :-)
Built my turbo kit by myself and no of the shelf kit so my feedback is not as a regular turbo kit customer.
Have ridden my turbo for only one season and I'm very pleased of the performance and reasonable realiability. Reliability is difficult to predict. My bike was a brand new 500 EXC, time will tell. Cranking 100+ hp will probaby kill the engine in the long term but if you be more resonable with 85-90 hp i think you have a bike for regular use.
My only issue was that i blew the head gasket (coolant from radiator bleed) at the end of season. Don't know why but I ran stock compression and race gas, maybe bad luck. Will look for the option for low comp piston. That will hopefully help...
My track is ST. Track speed was too high. If you run a turbo, go for a LT. My new track kit will run a 59 mmx3460 mm.
Gearing is different than a N/A bike. Currenly running 14-16-17-21.
