Turbo Reed fix!!

OVS set me up with some new reed stops to test and see if it would fix the problem with broken reeds. As of right now I have over 500 miles on the reeds, and no sign of failure! 1200 at 12lbs Looking Good!
Sure would be nice to make it the season on one set.
Looks like the problem was never the type of reed but how it was supported. Hats off to OVS for finding something that works!

Size is the difference.
I would love to get you pics! but I hope that Im not taking that part of the sled apart till summer!! Maybe Travis will?

I've been using the Boyesen Rad Valve with their custom turbo reeds and over 500 miles at 9-14 lbs and no issues after I modified their rubber adapter. These are in both my sleds, TM10 and TM12. The TM12 probably has over 700 and I pulled the reeds and checked them 200 miles ago and look like new. Pricey compared to what a reed stop mod might be though but I have no more issues with blown intake boots that I have had happen more than once on the stock ones.

The reed stops are available from OVS and you don't have to double stack reed's anymore. Double stacking reed's make for poor bottomend response and rob HP from the top end. OVS is taking orders if you want contact me and we can get you a set on order. Thanks 801-940-7777

I had been running double reeds last year with good success on my big bore turbo.

I did the same thing this year on my TM8. It was running pretty doggy on the bottom till I got set up with reed stops and stock M8 reeds. I was really amazed at the "rip" difference...... and it's pretty obvious how the reeds have a ton more support.

Also, nothing to do with reed stops, but with the ingenious way OVS anchors the box all the way to the motor, it would be almost impossible to pull a boot apart. The airbox connection was one of my biggest problems last year. This year I don't even think about it.

Thanks OVS for making this year's project pretty easy.....too easy!

I see you sneeked in while I was typing.

I'm running a M8 HCR w/ pump gas kit, to date I've only got 270 miles on the machine, I will be getting in touch with you tomorrow to check availibilty of these reed stops, I would like to replace the stock ones just as a precautionary measure, and yes, getting all the way through a season sounds really good! Got your number on my phone and will be giving you a call! :D

Sounds like a good idea. Do you guys still offer the rear suspension coupling kit?

I didn't see it on your website... I would be interested in both products. Just finished installing new reeds today.... Atleast i know they will need to be changed soon anyway... Good reason to get some stops for the next change over.

Would a person still use M1000 reeds on a tm8?

I'm using stock m8 reeds on my setup. I took out the double stack 1000 over 800 reeds when I went to the new style reed stop. I really don't have many miles yet, but like I mentioned above, the response is great over my stacked reeds.

So Tony would you say that double stacking reeds effect the performance?

OK Mr Smart Alex......you know I am eating crow on this one. I was a double stack believer....LOL

I know it certainly affected my TM8 reaction to my thumb, because bottom end throttle response is much more improved, now with single reeds. I assume top end is better, but since the new turbo is in that equation, I can't honestly answer that.
