turbo question

i have 2002 mountain cat that started life out as a 136, now it is a 162 like the 1m, the problem is that it is only a 500, anybody out there ever put a turbo on a smaller engine. i know the easy way would be to put a 8 or 900 in it. but a turbo would be fun, and ideas would be great

good rule of thumb, the more torque a motor produces the better candidate for turbocharging. Dont waste the time or money on boosting a 500.

I haven't seen a turbo'd MC500 but I am sure it could be done if it was carb'd. I'm not sure you'd be able to dial in a EFI since there is a lack of a box for it. Maybe run a size smaller turbo than the M8 boys are running in a ball bearing form; I bet that sucker would be a fun little sled....

Ive seen a turbo'd 580, that thing ripped it was all topend tho, D&D makes a 720 big bore kit, i think it makes about 145hp. It would probably be cheaper in the long run, usualy you waste a few topend and maybe a bottomend too trying build your own turbo set up.

matty i know that you built a turbo kit for your cat a while back, just looking at possibly doing that with my 800 efi, wondering what kind of turbo you used, and what you made your tubing out of?
