As I am laying out some more cash for a New motor and Carrillo rods and J&E pistons I am going to replace the turbo (just incase) I was wondering if I should use the gt28rs again or the gt2871. any Advice would be great

2871 no need for more it will make more power than you can ride sanely.the 30 has allot of top end & will pull for ever but you will lose the response of the 28rs.most of the big boys in canada run the 2871 & they climb stuff you shouldnt:D:beer;

You didn't even really have the 28RS cranked up and you already want more???????? Seriously though for the type of riding we have around here I would stick to the 28 RS.

When is it enough????????

I'll wait until I have maxed out my 28RS before I move on. (probably never happen) By then the sled will probably be bent in half.....Well that could be pretty soon at the rate I'm going!!!

When are you picking it up?? Might send mine down with you for Rods/pistons.

Just had Dustin at Outlaw install the 2871 with all the motor work behind it and WOW! I think the 2871 is all you'd ever need. Very responsive at low boost, I can't wait to turn it up!!!!:eek:

Should be an awesome winter!!:D

just so you know 28rs is good to around 20lbs boost efficiently & 2871 26-28lbs boost.most of the fastest sleds run 20lbs to 22lbs boost

I just need to make sure I have enough under the hood to handle riding with you even If I cant I want my sled to. I think 2 weeks from today. Let me know if you want me to haul it down He has a lot of stuff going on did he give you a price ???? If not he gave me one. I am hauling toms Apex motor to

It also depends on the elevation you ride at. At our elevations in AK, the 28rs is the turbo to have. If you ride 7000+ feet then 20 lbs will be really working the 28rs. Many guys are running the 2871 with the smaller exhaust housing to help make up for the additional lag.

most of my rides are at 2000 to 6000 ft. and a long climb for the most part will be 300-400 yards MT Baker and St Helens are the exeption the most important thing to me is no lag and hard instant power due to the steep tree
riding that goes on I need the power to make up for the lack of skill so I can keep up with Sap :beer;:D

Whats the max boost everyone would run in areas like revy with the 28rs with head shim and straight c12.

What turbo does Dustin say to go with?
I have not asked yet waiting to call on motor dont want to bug him I own a auto shop so its easy for me to get turbo and shop pay 4 it. I told him I was going to get the 28 rs and when I went to get it the guy at the turbo store sugested the 2871 but he is in South Carolina I dont think he understands the turbo MT sled deal he just said it would make more power and a little slower to spool. Boondocker sales it as a UPGRADE?????? or so they say
