Turbo Out Of Gas = Melt Down??

Just a bit of advice…..

DO NOT!! Run your sled out of gas with a turbo. Whether you are just cruising or under load – good chance you will melt a piston.

Buddy of mine found this out the hard way this weekend.

Called Indy Dan and he said running out of gas is guaranteed melt down.

Its gonna depend how you ran it out. If it ran out under light load its probably not going to hurt anything. If it was a hard cutout, it usually will be ok, where as if its a sputter, it can do damage.

If you are just cruising under light load with a turbo sled hows it any diffferent than a stock sled?

yep, you are correct. It might make a difference if you are under a load or not.

I'm not here to debate the issue or make up stories.

I really don't care if someone burns up a cylinder or not. Just a heads-up for anyone that wants to listen.

Indy Dan said he sees it all the time.

Ya can happen but shouldn't. The factory egt sensor in your pipe that all 2-smoker efi units have isn't there for looks (it does look cool, I like the new BRP one).

Iv Tuned mod sleds before and was out to lunch with the fueling and felt them just die like I hit the kill switch and come back to life in a second or two, must have got hot in the pipe? What does the egt do? Timing for a cold pipe, closed loop fueling, engine protection, detonation, EPA stuff ??? I don't know, but newer sleds don't like to run well when a code says to replace the egt sensor.
