Turbo or Trade up

So I'm looking for some input on what I should do with my sled. I have a 05 M7 which right now absolutly rips and has no real problems. I was able to stay right with a couple 09 hrc last year. So is it really worth it to spend the 5000+ on a turbo or should I look into trading up? I do a mix of both climbing and boondocking and might weigh 200 with all my gear on.

Best thing I did was keep my older sled and turbo it. You have pretty much the exact same chassis that is available today. If it is in good shape don't hold back.

M7 Turbo

I would not recommend you turbo an M7 just does not work as well as M8's the M8 is the very best turbo sled as far as user friendly goes. The M7 is a great sled stock. So either trade up or get you an M8 and turbo it later.

Just my 2 Cent I hope I do not offend M7 turbo guy's.

If i was in your spot, I would trade up to at least a 08 M8 and then start from there. reason being that puts you into a 800 which i have heard and seen stock and turboed. stock was good and turboed hell ya. If i'm right the 08 will accept the fox float skid, the travel is 2'' higher than 07's and older. I think you would be farther ahead with new sled to turbo.

The M8 and the M7 use the same parts for a turbo kit . If you turbo the 7 you could pull all of the parts off and put them on an 8 . And then put the 7 back to stock and give it to your wife , or sell it.

I know a guy who still runs a TM7 ,he has had since new in 06 . I would not shy away from doing a 7 . His sled rips , and it will run right with a TM8 .

The Det sensor is the big difference, you will have to be more careful with the M7 and make sure you have the right amount of octane to prevent the det.

I would turbo the 7 then try and get a good deal on an 8 in the late season and put the turbo on it.

No more carefull than with an M1000. No det sensor on them either. Even with a det sensor you should be running enough octane to avoid det, otherwise your sensor's gonna retard your timing and richen your fuel. Who the heck wants that to happen in the middle of a climb!

i have a 06 turbo m7. i have had it turbo'd for two seasons and it flat out rips. i love the thing to death. not sure i could trade it for a new one. its been deadly reliable since about the second day with it. OVS was great to work with and i would highly recommend them if you decide to do one. if you have any questions feel free to pm me. i also have a buddy who went with a twisted kit and loves that as well. his is on an 05 m7

ive got an 06 tm7 and i rude with 3 turbo m8s, as far as power goes, there isnt one sled that pulls harder then the other, once i got my turbo dialed i havnt had a problem since at around 1400 miles agoe on a motor that already had roughly 2300 to begin with so as far as im concerned this is a rock solid setup, im also runing the ovs on race fuel and its deadly.

well thanks every one for the info. i think i'm going to go with the turbo, just have to pick which one now, and scrap together the rest of the money.

RKT big bore 800 that mofo w/ an OVS kit and you should be scootin' pretty good. The RKT big bore for the m7 uses stock f/m8 pistons and runs just over $1K I think.

i can't do both, won't be able to get the funds for that. is it really worth it to go with a big bore and then wait on the turbo? are there any issues with putting a turbo on a bb

do you know of anyone who has done this and it worked and they are happy???
i would love mine if i could get some bottom end throttle response for ridding trees...

What exactly would you like to know? My bb has a twisted kit on it and a stock turbo m8 won't touch it. ( I have the same kit on a stock 2007 m8 so I have a little experience here)

X2. This is what I would do too.
