Boondocker turbo $4250. 50hp gain
or
Razemotorsports Nos approx. $2000 31hp gain

Im leaning toward the Nos. Any Input or advice?

Thx

I had the IceAge nitrous setup on my '13 YZ450F, I really liked it. Wish I could put it on my FX but they say it's a no go. I can't decide which button I'm gonna like more, the nitrous or electric start......

Anywho if you're at all interested in the IceAge kit it's for sale. I have the kit, 2 bottles and the nitrous bottle pressure gauge.

nitrous was always a big disappointment on my sleds. no comparison to a turbo. always spent the money on nitrous, then ended up tossing it back in the box and buying the turbo in the end. might be different on a bike though. but you are still not getting away from inconsistencies due to bottle temperature , filling, etc.

Man I can tell you this... My kms turbo has been a freekin ball.... very ridable in trees... But the difference is you are riding it like a 2 stroke... Turbo = being on the pipe... But I think that is exciting. Next weekend I will be riding with someone that has nitrous on their yz so I can give you a better review...

Turbo would be the best. $2000 for a nos kit?! Cold Fusion Nitrous sells a kit for your 2011 for $500. Comes with 10, 20, and 30hp jets. Easy to install. I have NOS on my pro hillclimb bike. Great for short bursts on the dirt but would be short lived and inconsistent in the snow. TURBO

With the yz and turbo you really will spend more than that... ARP studs, shifter arm reinforcement and clutch lockout I think are very important.. don't know about nitrous at your altitude.

Why won't icage nitrous work on the fx?

If cost is the deciding factor you should rethink both. Neither option is going to be cheap in the end. Do you want a shot once in a while to pick up track speed? Nitrous is fun but addicting. You'll hit the button often and run out of juice. Do you want a jump in hp(and torque)? A turbo is also addicting and never runs out. That said at your altitude you might want low compression(safer and can use probably 91 octane not sure...something to read up on). Either way there is a learning curve that can be expensive!! Having had a light weight custom built sled on nitrous and several not so light Yammies, I'd go turbo all the way.

I know for me even with the low comp at my altitude they recommend 100 octane.... But there are a lot of other things on my bike also... Race fuel is not cheap... Works out to close to 8 a gallon.. buying it in 30 gallon increments

Buy a turbo if you enjoy rebuilding motors. I only know of one guy (and he doesn't ride all that much) who hasn't gone through a motor yet. There are other ones out there who haven't but I hear FAR MORE horror stories than success stories. Take that turbo money, buy nitrous, and build up the motor a little bit. You can do all that for the price of one turbo before you blow something up.

We have been putting miles on the Ninja Backup and it's pretty much exactly what we wanted it to be. It's 100% autonomous, you arm the nitrous with a switch and go ride. When the ECU green lights the nitrous (all perameters are good to go such as engine rpm) and the rider commands 65% throttle or more the nitrous is sprayed. What this system does is make the bike feel like it's running good.... Really good. It wont spray if the engine is bogged down and break connecting rods, and when the engine reaches 10,500 rpm the nitrous is shut off because the engine can hold that rpm in most cases. The Ninja Backup is the safest nitrous system on the market, and the bikes rip! Learn more at www.razemotorsports.com.
