turbo oil pump

pump

I could hear a noise coming from the turbo and started looking the pump had a worm growing out the side it must have got hot and it started melting makeing the worm grow.Hope the noise goes away when it gets oil

Check the shaft for play, you may not like what you find. Pull off your intake filter and see if the shaft will slide in and out. Or up and down.

Close to nothing, not even a 0.01 mm/0.0005 inch. Better to send it in for bearing change and balacing now, if the bearing fails under high rpm the damage will be more severe.

if there is no play and it spins freely and quiet is it safe to assume theres no damage? How can you tell if its not balanced or damage occured? my oil pump was put on backwards hence no oil i have about 4 rides on it with minimum boost could that be why i was showing temp of 255?? i reversed the pump started the sled with the top line unhooked and wow the oil was flowing imagine that checked for play and noise spinning the turbo with my fingers quiet no noise or play put it all back together ran about 6 WOT for 100yds checked my temp was 63 on 9.3 psi pulled awesome sounds fine did i escape unscathed??? I hope so....

i toasted one last spring but you might just need to press a new bearing in and be fine check the inside of the turbo when you take it apart if theres no grooves on the inside and the vanes are bent or broke you may get lucky with the bearing only...when you say you have play how much?

Sorry to hear your turbo took a crap, hope you weren't back in the middle of knowere when that happened? I would agree that CPC is the way to go. I have a Cutler Turbo on mine and the pump seems to be quite bulletproof. Hope you have better luck next time!

I have a race gas boondocker sset up and the oil pump went out any other good ones out there?

Last season my CCU was quietly going out producing little power to the boondocker electric pump....by the time I found it my turbo had been damaged. $650 dollars later I had it rebuilt...$200 CCU... I then was scared to death of an electric pump so now I use mix my gas and use the stock oil pump to circulate oil through the turbo. I check the flow every ride. Snowmobiles are nothing but money pits.

BTW I still have my Boondocker electric pump that I took off. I've got a bunch of stuff I haven't had time to list to sell, I've been to busy trying to get my money pit going.

OIl pump

That is why the oil gauge is such a great idea. I putt them on all the sled I can for that reason. See the gauge above my key that is the oil gauge that comes with the push kit.

I put a hobs switch between the pump and the turbo. I can't remember because it has ben on since begining of last year, but it is set at 4 or 5 psi. red led right between my boost and fuel presure gauges. if the oil presure is low the light comes on. My pump does not put out much presure and it is not a steady flow/oil presure. Ball bearing turbo does not need very much oil. So when I first start the sled the light stays off. once the oil warms up and I have ben riding it awhile the led light flashes. That is fine. if the light stays on solid I am in trouble.
