Turbo Nytro suspension set-up

Hi guy's,

I recently ordered a new Powder Lites turbo kit for my Nytro. Just last week I had the opportunity to ride a Nytro with an MCX kit on it. Wow the power was crazy, but the sled was way out of control in the stock skid. It needed a wheelie bar. Has anyone found a solution that makes the stock skid work running a turbo?

On anather note, for the last couple weeks I ran a Hartman Inc clutch kit in my Nytro MTX. It made a really big difference over stock. Climbing was 8-10km/hr track speed increase, and it back shifts way better. The kit came with new a new primary, and secondary spring, multi angle helix, and fly weights. I highly recommend the kit to others. The sled even stay's on top of the snow better now.

Thanks for all your help!!

Talk to Allen @ timbersled. his skid tamed the ski lift on my 320 HP Apex. Tried an MCX Nytro with the same skid and it worked just as good. not to mention saving 30 plus real pounds. Easy worth the $1500 - 2000.

I just put the timber sled rear suspension in my nytro and it works great. The stock skid I was able to adjust the weight transfer so that on trails the skis would barley lift when the boost hit, in the powder it was a different story it was a wheelie machine!:D I agree with boostedballz the timbersled skid is the way to go. Just make sure that they ship your drop brackets with the rear skid.

are you running the recommended pressure in the shocks & make sure you have the weight off the skid when doing it.i think i have a 1/4 inch shim on the bottom would only wheelie when almost vertical or if i loaded the skid on a bump.

I just ordered Hartmens clutch kit today.. I put a 162 in it and its pretty much stock except for a small shot of NOS and a slip-on.. Was wandering what kinda revs you were pulling and at what elevation?? I hope this kit wakes this thing up Ive got 800 kms now and in the deep climbing it still will only rev 8000 rpm..

you should be pulling 8600-8700.try to set it up to pull 9000-9100 on the trail then it will pull 8500-8700 in the deeper snow it will feel like you added 30hp.

Im pulling 9100 on the trail.. as soon as I get in some deep stuff the revs just drop right off..8000rpms... I cranked up the secondary and I gained some revs on the trail but not on a climb??

yes sounds like you need a differnt helix.iam sure the hartman clutching will make a big diff his stuff always works good.:beer;

Hartman uses WAY lighter weights than stock, 14.5mm rollers, softer primary spring, and a slightly different secondary spring (same side pressure as sock but difft torsion ). On the trail RPM is just over 9000 like Vector said. Dont worry it will pull down in the deep snow 8500-8600. You will be very impressed with the kit, I sure was. Buddy has a stock apex and it will eat him up now. The hartman helix is the real mystery in his kit, you wont find any degree or angle markings on it at all. The rest is all yamaha parts, mine even came in yamaha bags!!! I got two kits one for 2200ft and one for 6000-7000ft. The only down side is he changes weights between these elevations so its a little more money.

How about springs, anyone try stiffer ones in the stock skid. The timberseld sounds like a great idea for next year. I was sure hoping to run the stocker for the rest of this season, somewhat under control if possible. Thanks

I am running 140 in the rear and 95 in the front of the skid and 65 lbs in both fronts..Climbed in 3' of fluff and if I held it it would have come over backwards had to let off, track speed with the camo extreme was 110 ks and climbing. I am going to try 2 shims under each side for now:eek:

Same results as MCX Nytro I have MCXpress turbo/timbersled skid with 162 X 16w Challenger extreme. 2 washers under transfer rods & on a climb in deep powder it will pull right over backwards if you get on it too hard. Limiter strap pulled all the way tight 90 psi front shock 135 psi in rear. Going to put one more washer in to try & keep front end down. If that doesn't work I think I will press the rails flat. These Nytro's are not Vectors or Apexes. What works on them does not work on the Nytro. Even Stock they pull the front end way more than Vectors & Apexes.

iam running flat rails & a d&r so these help me too.dont know about your nytro being worses than my vec it was out of control to the point i could almost not ride it.one other thing if you are running a rear mount it will wheelie allot more too.

Yeah it's a catch 22 it's nice to wheely & spin around in the trees when your boondocking.But on the hill it is nice to keep the front down until you want to pull it around quick.How do you find turning around on a steep hill with the flat rails? Us old guys some time chicken out. Kahunas arent as big as they once were.

does not seem to bad to turn i just get on the power a bit when i want to turn & it does didnt notice much diff,you just notice it on the trail a bit it pushes more.
