Whats everyone running for gearing in a 162 " 240 hp MCX Nytro ? It comes stock with 18-40 , sure seems low to me.

Stock is 20/40 with reverse or at least mine was. Now running 19/40 which works fine with the stock length chain.

2010 162 SE's came with the 18 tooth top. 08-09's came with 20/40. I just switched the top sprocket to a 19t. Haven't gotten any seat time on it yet.

I am going to go up to a 19 for sure but was wondering on the 20 . At about 65 a sprocket i just want to do it once lol.

Run 20-40 no problem with our impulse sleds. Can run alot of gear with that much HP:)

Well maybe i should look into the 20 then , i am pretty sure the 20 will still fit with the factory chain. Pretty sure it has a 68 link chain.

I have less heat in the belt with the 19 in the deep deep when you keep it clamped for a while:face-icon-small-hap I have ran it for a while and the less heat the better IMO 22/40 would never work where we ride.....

I run 19 40 with a MCX 240 kit and a 162 CE. IMO its perfect. A buddy had 22 40 with the 270 kit and snapped his chain one day when we were out. You can't creep around with 22 40 its just too tall again IMO. How much track speed do you need the 19 will turn it over 70 mph.

Well a bigger top gear will help chain life, anytime you can make a chain bite more teeth on a bigger radius it will help. To me the whole point of a mega HP 4stroke is to have 100mph track speed to get thing moving. To me 20/40 with 3.0 pitch 7 tooth drivers is not tall by any means. Again like anything there is more than one way to get the job done:D

i'm going to a 19/42 wiich will work with the stock 68 link chain. It gets you really close 2.2:1 gearing and the 19tooth will last longer than the 18t on high horsepower sleds so I hear.

So you guys going up to the 19 and 20 tooth are you thinking your gonna gain more track speed in the powder/climbing?? Or are your just looking for some more top end??

Im going from a 21/40 to a 19/40 with 68 link chain, much better set up and easier on clutchs when running a 174 track in the deep. The 19 with still spin the track fast, its not a huge difference is track speed but a nice diff in belt temps. Rememeber you may need to add weight to the primary if your gearing down. My uneducated thoughts. :face-icon-small-coo

Yeah the way it sounds I have the 18/40 since my sled is a 2010 SE 162. I am also going to a 7 tooth 3" pich driver so that is gonna gear me down even more. Does anyone know how much gearing I will loose?? Will I gain any track speed by gearing up?? I could care less about top speed, last year 92-94mph was top speed. I am sure it will be less this year
