Turbo Etec Intake Pipe Length?

I am currently running a Turbo Performance Etec kit with their cold air intake. I really like where the Impulse kits have the intake located just to the right of the steering post base. Now with the plumbing of the boost tube and blow off valve on the Turbo Performance kit would be very difficult to locate the intake on the right side of the steering post base but it would be doable to locate it on the opposite side. Only down side is the length of the intake pipe would be considerably longer going around to the left hand side. I think the right mix of pipe and silicone hose unions I could route the intake to the base of the steering post on the left hand side. In watching the Impulse videos it appears their intake does a nice job of staying clean in deep snow since it is tucked behind the windshield/dash. So does adding length to the intake pipe hurt anything?

as long as you stay 3" pipe its not the worst to add some length especially if your gaining better intake cleanliness and eliminating plugging.

but in general, more bends/pipe length will slightly hurt you overall as it makes the turbo work harder to draw in air to spool. Again, maintaining pipe diameter of 3" and using minimal bends and all mandrel units, if you were having trouble with intake plugging you will be happier with the end result if it is moved.

Thanks. I took a look at my options for running the 3" intake tube today. I dang near think I can get it routed up thru the right hand side to come out on the right side of the steering post base. I may have to use a 3" silicone hose thru one tight area, the hose might be squashed down a little to fit but overall think it will flow 99.9% of what it should.

Don't get me wrong I like the Turbo Performance stuff but last year in the heavy wet snow we rode in it seemed my intake was plugging more often than I would have liked. In watching the Impulse videos it seems their intake did a better job of staying clean in the powder.

Ok here is what I came up with. I bought all the needed supplies at Siliconeintakes.com. I used 3" plumbing for everything.
