Turbo Blanket

I have one on my sled you can see a pic of it in the Polaris turbo forum. I think its a major under the hood heat reduction.

image.jpgI also use the DEI turbo blanket. Works great keeps under hood temps down and temps in the turbo where they should be.

Thank all for the response, looking for a way to keep the heat down under the seat on my rear mount and had not seen any post with mention of blankets being use on sleds.

The only con I've read about is turbo bearing life. The additional heat is supposed to be hard on them. Not sure if this applies to a snowmobile application or if it's specific to ball bearing or bushing style turbos. Has anyone ran these long term and if so how many miles? Thinking about trying it on my viper. Coming from a rare mount the underhood temps on this thing make me a little nervous.

Any cover will cause heat soak with no air flow if sled is shut down to soon after running at Boost, and yes have heard the cheap ones fall apart ,thanks .

man o man I cannot bear the cost they charge for those blankets... I mean even your standard weaved ones... $200+...? and that turbosource for what appears to be thin tin for only a mear $500?....

Call me a Idiot But I've had great sucess with tinfoil LOL! It's not perfect mind you but it does a great job at keeping heat in and does disappate heat too just not as fast as if it wasnt there....

I had used it on a mod sled of mine where my exhaust exited about half a inch from my oil pan. It worked great at keeping the heat off it and melting my plastics... So it does work lol.

At that my apex with the rear mount and a mountain mod seat.... I dont got heat issues into the seat however it does keep my rear compartment of my seat slightly warm which is nice because I just throw my goggles in the little pocket and it drys them out!. It never gets warm-hot so I dont worry about anything melting

I have run mine for about 2,000 miles now. Not really long-term but it's something to go off of. It has definitely reduced my under-hood temps and provided that extra protection next to my gas tank.
