Turbo Belt Life

Well 14 days of riding the turbo and have 2 belts with missing or pulled side cords. Both of them are pulled on outside of the belt. At 180.00 a piece I want to fix this issue. Both belts where broke in on my maiden voyage with the turbo on the trail so they where well heat soaked and not pulled too hard in the first hour or so. I read where some guys heat them up in the oven to get them to last longer

Put a torque stopp in front of your engine on the right side, then it wont twist like it does without it.

It doesn't matter what you do to prep your belts for a turbo...
I have gone through 4 belts this year.
2 of them I did the brush and soapy water dry and go put on 10-15 easy miles on the belts. I get 60-80 miles on them.
When I have just put on a brand new belt out in the mountains I get 60-80 miles on the belts.
And I am not running heavy springs and weights so no it's not my cluthing
I would love to see a remedy that would work but, not everybody rides the same way.
Someone that rides more trails will get more life on their belts than someone that rides the trees and drainages where you are in and out of the throttle.

Has your clutch been sent to Indy dan or carls.. for the balance, face machine etc...? if not something to look in to.

had mine done by indy dan, 450 miles or so on original belt, belt looks good... for the first 3-4 rides i would take the belt off and give it a good scrub.. and now i clean clutches every 2-3 rides and give the belt a scrub.

take a damp paper towel and wipe the whole clutch compartment, youd be suprised how much belt dust youll pick up, itll black the whole paper towel, i only imagine all the dust in the compartment blows around at 8000 RPM. MY

Something must be off on your clutch to only get 60-80 miles out of a belt on a turbo. To me if you are a running a turbo but aren't running heavy springs and weights that would decrease belt life because it will slip and get hot which grenades them.

Haven't had a lot of time on my pro yet but am running Silber's recommendation on clutching and will see. I know on my Apex running 15psi I would put 1000 miles on a stock belt and change it out for insurance but never shredded a belt. Same with my skidoo before that had motor work with a DJ clutch and no blown belts.

Im sure some of you guys know this but some people are finding the arctic cat belt to hold up better and are way cheaper.. Part # 060 (harder compound) and 046 (softer) If got 500 km on my polaris belt and have a cord showing now.

Check your faces on your primary clutch I had a moveable sheave face cracked in 2 places with 1200 miles on it and was doin the same as yours thinkin the extra power with the turbo wrecked 2 belts but checked into and was the clutch

I've got about 200 miles on my belt turboed now, and it was a used belt to start with, not sure on mileage but it looks like it did before the turbo. My spare is a cat belt and I might be swapping that out soon. I assumed turbos would go through them a bit quicker but 60-80 miles seems nuts. I'm not riding trails either.

new motor mounts, clean clutches every trip. Not a lot of belt dust either. So its maybe I dont have enough weight, I push 8300-8350 once in a while but on a steep deep climb I am 8250.

low mileage like stated above has got to be something to do with clutching set up... have over 8,000 boosted miles on my dragons over the past 4 years and have only bought 8 belts, still running four of them. have never blown a belt, i just refuse to run a corded belt on my turbo in case it ever did let go, however i just throw the corded ones on my pro after i trim and burn them and have yet see one fail... good venting is a must but proper clutching shouldn't produce excessive amounts of heat. extra torque stops are always a good idea as well

I would also throw out Alignment...
