turbo apex ? bd kit

whats every one doing for a pre filter on the cage for the air intake mine keeps freezing up in the deep snow and now i see theres a hole in it any answers does k&n make a pre filter to fit i wonder thanks guys

I haven't found any replacement filters yet, but I grabbed some 3" hose from a diesel shop and a short piece of pipe and raised my intake about 8-10". The snow doesn't start building up between the cage and the hood any more and it's high enough that the heat from the exhaust doesn't melt the snow when I'm stopped so that it freezes up when I start going again.

It is the absolute ****s in deep snow--bogs sled right down--can you just put snow screen on the turbo intake and cover over the panel??

pre filter

where are you that you have to worry about it ? we havent had good enuff snow to be a problem all year. Last year we found that you had to cary an extra filter, spray it down with silicone water repelent. extending it also helps. I get the extra prefilters from michele at oregon trail. she is on here

Filter info

I extended the plumbing, put approx. a 30 deg backwards bend and vent the sh!t out of the turbo side panel. This really helps get the heat away from the filter. Not a cure all, but helps abunch. Side benefit is the filter is layed down abit more and slides through the tree branches better. I also pack a second cover for the filter incase I rip one. Opening up the side panel where the filter hose goes through helps let the snow fall through without getting hung up, but it does allow alot more into the sled... Not sure if this one is really worthwhile. Although it does seem to just melt from the turbo and run out the bottom.
