tunnel stiffeners on 07?

Hey all-

I have been looking into a ski rack, such as CFR, for my 07 Rev. Just about all of the companies with a similar product highly recommend adding tunnel stiffeners to support the extra weight of skis, gas, boots, etc. hanging far off the back. I looked under my tunnel to see where I would rivet an aluminum plate to stiffen the tunnel and came across this -

The guy I bought the sled from said this is how it came from the factory. Did the 07 just come with tunnel stiffeners, or do I need to add them in addition to this? Thanks for the insight.

The CFR Tunnel Stiffeners work awesome, I have alwasy mounted them on the outside but you can mount them on the inside to but also the 07 rev has a stronger tunnel in a way as in 2008 they started to do CAD so the tunnel is sort of one piece instead of a few pieces like 07 and previous. You wont need the tunnel stiffeners if you mount your ski rack but underneath the tunnel where the bolts go through use a flat piece of aluminum and bigger washers where the bolts go in and the nuts fasten. This spreads the load out more evenly. I have always mounted my rack as far back so there is enough room when you mount your skis for standing so at the back is better than close to the seat and if you use those aluminum pieces under you will be good to go, also remember when the whoops are 2-4 feet high and you have two pairs of skis and a bag back there, then going through the whoops at mach chicken is what causes the problem. If you slow down during those conditions and use the pieces underneath you will be fine. I got my aluminum flat pieces at Canadian Tire and they are cheap. Here is a vid for the instal of the cfr tunnel stiffeners if you go that route and the rack. cheers dave

so you're saying... don't do the large tunnel stiffener like CFR has? I have some tracks along the sides for securing gear up top that are all riveted in. Adding a plate like CFR has would be a PITA.

I'm thinking about using this companies product http://www.ez-rak.com/

Should have a smaller mounting surface, weigh less and cost less than the CFR set up. I don't really need the rack portion from CFR since I have those riveted on tie-down spots on top of my tunnel and can secure gear that way. I'm just worried about being able to keep the skis as far to the back of the tunnel as possible so they stay away from my feet
