Tunnel Replacement 2013 pro

My trailer was full of sleds when it got broadsided by a texting driver who didn't see the light was red. Jury is still out on all the damages as the sleds are at my dealer getting looked over. One sled needs a new tunnel, plus all new plastic, a-arms, skis, bumpers, front shock...list goes on. Hoping they total the sled.

That said, can a tunnel be repaired/replaced and still have adequate strength/durability? Yes, I know I just used the word durability with a pro tunnel.

Why not? If the bulk head if fine then it should be no different then putting an aftermarket on. I would say. Have insurance pay you out what it is and put a stronger vanamburg or something. Guy got rear ended in his truck, paid the difference to put a road armour one on.

if the sled has tunnel or bulk head damage they will total it. on the bright side you can fix it cheap and save money by doing the labor. or you can get a brand new sled.:face-icon-small-ton

I am willing to do the work. Just never removed or replaced a tunnel. How difficult is it?

If I were you, and they total it, I would have them buy you a new replacement sled and then buy the salvage rights to the wrecked sled. From there you can either rebuild it or part it out. If you rebuild it you need to asses the extent of the damages and decide if you want to rebuild the tunnel / bulkhead or pay the little bit extra and buy the completely new preassembled chassis. If you go this route I would entertain buying the wrecked sled / chassis as I replace the entire tunnel sides and top anyway, with custom made higher strength pieces. PM me if you go this route. Thanks

I have replaced a couple tunnels in the past. It is not a small project. You're basically disassembling and reassembling an entire machine.
On a 1-10 scale of difficulty I'd say its a 9. More due to time consuming. If you go aftermarket prolly some layout cutting drilling required.
Plan on about 40-50 hours of work and having the right tools.

For riveting I prefer aircraft style solid aluminum smash rivets. They are very strong, look professional as long as the air hammer doesn't get away from you and they will fill oversize or oblong holes tha you're bound to have from drilling out during disassembly.

That sounds a bit daunting. Thanks for the detailed reply. Hopefully I can find a simpler way to get it to a point I can ride then collect the cash and ride it like a rental.

post up pics and lets see how bad it is..most of the time they can be fixed without a total teardown...

Insurance adjuster finally got around to making it to the dealer and said it appears they will total the sled. Anyone have and idea how much it will cost to buy it back? Insurance company is AAA. Adjuster seems to be a little short on sled knowledge.

guy on here totaled his 13 at the end of last year, bent the tunnel and broke the carbon fiber over-structure, maybe a couple other things too... Not sure how reliable this is, but I heard the insurance gave him $2500 for it.

I believe he meant; insurance replaced the sled with new and the salsa she rights were $2500. Which is cheap as just the engine will sell for more than that.
