Tunnel Cooler??

I was looking at the Catalyst and Ascender last night and the tunnel cooler looks a lot smaller/shorter on the Catalyst. Has anyone put a tap measure to them? If I have time, I may try this weekend. Just wondering if that is attributing to some of the higher heat. Less cooler material, less coolant, less weight but.......

The Catalyst does live up to the hype, super fun and easy sled to ride. So far I really like the Alpha rail on this chassis. I don't struggle with it like I did with the Ascender and find that I'm using it to my advantage. The traction and hook up is unreal. Rides 10 folds lighter then the Ascender. I see why everyone stole their 'wife's' 600s last year...... :ROFLMAO: ! AC has a winner, hope we can keep it going.

Hey, I didn't steal it. I borrowed it. I also stroked the check.

Love my 2025 M858 SnoPro 165.. Up graded from 2008 M1000 162. Still learning how to ride the new sled. Much easier to side hill on but still a learning curve for sure.

Just got out of the break in and hope the overheating is over…..Rode last weekend, trail is F——-ing sucked, trail was hard, even with scratchers deployed still over heated. Once I was able to get in the snow on the slope, no issue with overheating.

If the hard packed trail is smooth enough to the point where you can go faster than 20-25 MPH, the scratchers normally can keep it cool enough to help prevent over-heating.
If the trail is hacked up to the point where you cannot go that fast without beating the crap out of yourself and the sled. Then under those conditions, a removable snow flap is extremely effective and solves the problem. Or at least it did for me.

did a 70 mile trail ride with my mtn cat 3 inch and it was a nice groomed trail, with both scratchers down it would stay in the 130's. I saw they make a long snow flap for the riot and zr sleds, should fit on the Ms unless they run different bumpers. looked like you could cut some of the long snow flap off like the old days when we bitched that they were too long. could always get a transmission cooler or intercooler cooler and plumb it in with a little fan like the blow hole fans for sleds. my old 81 el tigre has a little radiator on it.

I have not measured them but the Catalyst has a capacity of 4.2 quarts not sure about the Ascender. I think the capacity will tell us as much as measuring. I read in the AC propaganda that the new cooler had a larger surface area and deeper fins for better cooling. I think the biggest difference in the distance from the track to the cooler, the Catalyst has way more room which is great to evacuate snow, that also may be a contributing factor for overheating in low snow conditions. I have been able to manage mine with throttle usage and speed but when you get in the whooped out sections it can become a issue. I like what MTN Viper did other than it is a SD part lol
