Tunnel bag and gas can XP 154

Yep. I'm running an 07 rev gas can and doo tunnel bag on my 08 XP 154. Do a search for VMI rack or Vortech Manufacturing, that's the rack I'm using. Works great.

Is anyone running this combination.
I got pretty used to the trunk on the 06 adreniline.

here is mine

Thanks
Wasn't sure if the bag would fit on behind the gas can.
Just nice sometimes out on the prairies not to have to were the pack.

Does anyone have the problem of their gas can falling off. It seems that no matter what I do it always works loose somehow. I have the same set up as Wyoming T/A except the tank is turned around. Any ideas?? Thanks

I will try and get some pics of my set up. The first time I actually lost the can, it seems that the ratchet mechanism isn't holding. Replaced the can and then the rivets that hold bracket on (dealer installed) broke and fortunately found can - but lost the bracket. Before the rivets broke it seemed that any time I stopped and checked it, it was loose. Any ideas on getting just the bracket?

You could ask me real nice and I could see if I had an extra one sitting around that I could send you. I don't think they sell them seperate, just sell the strap kit.

Found that sometimes the teeth on the ratchet get worn, and can come loose. Also, check the little brackets that hold the straps to the tunnel, sometimes the rivets get loose, and the brackets get to wobble and can also cause your problem. On my both my 06 and 07 I would also add a bungee cord over the gas can, that would help. On my 08 and 09, I haven't had any problems with the gas can coming off.

On my XP's, I have gone to the BRP Gas Caddy with Tunnelbag/Backpack combo. If you have a 154 or longer track you won't have a problem. With the 146 track, I think your tunnel will be to short for this combo, unles you go with the older style tunnel bag. Of note, the tunnelbag/backpack combo is a little longer than the older tunnel bag, plus it has less capacity. The good part is it's is a better quality bag and you won't have problems with zippers breaking and seams coming apart.

I found that if the open part of the hook is to the inside it tends to pull out. Don't know if the tank pushes them out when it gets bumped around but I would guess that it what happens. As long as I have kept the four hooks facing the outside they have never pulled out.

Better Tunnel Bag

I had a ski-doo tunnel bag. After my stuff got soaked and my zippers broke off and my clips came off of the bag. My dealer sent all his ski-doo tunnel bags back to ski-doo. He was nice enough to warranty mine and give me a bag called "Adventure" out of Baker City Oregon. http://www.advmfg.net

They don't show the pack on their site, but they have them. Call and see if they can send you a picture. That way you won't be stuck with a expensive crappy tunnel bag from skidoo.

rivets busting

a trick I have used since 06 is to drill out the rivet holes to 1/4" and install 1/4" S.S. screws with nord-lock washers and StainlessSteel nuts and tighten next to stripping. Have never had any come loose.:D:D
