Tuning Edge rmk 800 SLP single

tighter heads are almost a must at that kind of elevation. SLP pipe, airbox, and VF3 reeds are a good place to start.

So what Im asking is , is SLPs chart good or can anybody recommend some proven jetting and clutching? Do I have to change all my stock springs or can I just up the weight?

Depends on the temp, depends on your machine, depends on alot of things

This is a real good starting point.

I tend to be more conservitive and keep it a little fat rather then a little lean!

Like I tried to say above.

Yes the SLP Chart is a good starting point. You need to understand there is no silver bullet when tunning. You have to try it and adjust (Tune) if it dosent perform to your liking.

I run 9500-11000. I have 58 gram weights stock spring and 350 jets. Its a little on the fat side when its not cold but its always safe and runs strong. SLP everything.

Here's my setup from a few years ago

02 800 RMK 156

Primary: Stock black/green spring heavy hitter adjustable weights ( ended up around 64 grams)

Secondary: Team 58-40/38 helix red/black spring ran in 38 position

Pipe: SLP single with a "Thing Can"

Jetting: 350's are safe I ran mine as low as 320's check plugs and wash

Reeds: Carbon tech

Gearing: 19-43 very important especially for us riding above 10K regularly.

I also ran a mesh hood. Engine and clutches both liked being able to breath.
Now with so many companies making good vent kits you can use the stock hood. With the stock hood the SLP intake with two Flowrites in the dash is worth the money.

You'll enjoy it when it's setup well!

Depends on what model year your edge is. 02's have different jetting requirements than 03+ model 800 Liberty motors. I have an 05. Last year I ran 330 jets at 10000ft-11500ft and was still running a tad on the rich side. Ran 350's the year before and was really rich at that elevation. I got my motor completely rebuilt by IndyDan this year and now run non-ves cylinders. They run cooler and make more power. More gas consumption though... Put on a high compression head this year. Going to run 300 jets now with needle in #2 position. I can run leaner on non-ves cylinders, but I think the jetting would be spot on for you at 10-11K with 310-320's to be on the safe side if you're 03+ engine. Other mods I have are SLP single/can, SLP high flow box, slp 2.5" flowrites, slp powder snow prefilters. 19/43 gearing. Almond primary spring with 10-60 weights. 64/40.46 helix with either black/red or red/black spring.

I'll have brand new Vforce III reeds for sale soon if you are interested. Will sell for cheap compared to retail.

My sled is an 04 800 Swithback I extended to 159 last year. I bought a slp pipe, air mods. mbrp can 19/ 41 for know have 43. I usually run 280s to 290s stock up there but last ride out I stuck my pto piston so motor in shop now getting ran through, big bearing maybe new pistons, I had 3400 trouble free miles on it . Usually ride around the summit, just looking for what people ran up there . Thanks , any help greatly appreciated.
