Trying to Mix Video & Having Problems?

Just using windows movie maker. I have NEVER done this before, and just want to mix a few clips...

I keep getting this prompt when I try to import video...

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\VholdR Videos\Vid 4.avi could not be imported. The required codec was not downloaded automatically because the Download codecs automatically check box is not selected in the Options dialog box.

Can Anyone help me? Need Video for Dummies book... I dont know where the Options dialog box is?

Thanks.. Justin

ok... that worked but now I get this..... thanks by the way
The file C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\VholdR Videos\Vid 3.avi cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

why does everything have to be so dang difficult.... what do I need to download?

Movie maker is a basic program as is quite anal about what kind of files will work with it. I`m guessing your camera is compressing your footage. Mpeg2 or mpeg 4 etc.

What kind of camera or vid cam are you using? We can start there and see what its saving it as. You might have to convert the footage before it will work with movie maker.

You could also try downloading some free trial software. they will have more options or you could try something like jumpcut and just upload your video and then edit once uploaded.

Are you plugging your Vholdr directly into your desktop via some supplied cable, or removing a storage device of some sorts? ie., SD card?

I use a different cam, but might be able to help...

let me know-

Craig

pluggin it right into the cam... I have the files downloaded to my puter. They just wont work on the video program.

I too am having problems. I can view all my videos on VLC media player but on my sony vegas 6.0 and on windows movie maker all I get is sound no video. The camera I am using is a samsung sports camera SC 210l. I have tried downloading a few different codecs but no help. I would love to get some of these vids so I could splice em together but I am a retard when it comes to comps... Thanks for any help.

Thats all fine and dandy, but I am not going to go buy a new computer... just to mix some 5 minute vids.....

I got the helmet cam to work. The codec was listed on the website. Now for workin on the camcorder.
