Trying to figure out miles?

I bought a 09 HCR this year and was wondering how many miles = 1 hour of riding or what is a good rule of thumb. My sled has 296 miles and 94 hours. The guy I bought it from said he took the hood off for spring riding and I know it has more than 296 miles. With the hood off I'm assuming that the hour meter is still working but not the odometer?
Thanks,

Don

i have just over 5,000 miles on mine checked the hours the other day and it averaged out to about 20mph...

X2 if the gauge is off it won't register OD,HM. hope this helps

If the gauge is totally off, correct. If the speedometer connection to the diamond drive is disconnected the hour meter will keep ticking. A disconnected plug could make a used sled look a lot better to someone who didnt know to check the hour meter as well as miles.

with 94 hours at around an average of 20mph that would give your sled around 1900 miles. unless it just sat around and idled all the time i'd say either the cable was broke/or removed for some period of time...
