Trying a different Nytro tunnel extension

Just finished water cutting my new nytro tunnel extension. Have to get it broke and then make the pan and a bracket to hold the the cut off edge support. The 1/4 sides weigh very close to the stock brackets.

It will mount on the outside of the tunnel

I will put up some new pics as they come.

I should also have the completed extensions at the edmonton sled show end of october.

I am going to make about 10 162's and 5 153's on my first run

Bent the 1/4 inch material and seems to be overkill. Going to try 3/16 and see how that looks.

Anyone knowhow thick the timbersled drop brackets are?

Here is the pic of the 1/4 material bent. I think .125 for the tail portion will be a little weak, but would work great if doubled to reinforce the running board and suspension mount.

I have dropped both the top and bottom windows a 1/4 to allow more material in the die. This and changing to 3/16 should smooth out any deformations.

I used to run 3/16 drop plates on my old rx1 years ago and never had any issues.

ok,

its getting closer to the finished product. That bend that yamaha uses was tricky, especially with the taper.

I have all the pieces and will assemble this weekend.

lookin good.

so your incorporating the drop bracket too?
hmm i could do with out that i think, as well as the thousands others with 'non' stock suspensions/drop brackets already.
unless of course this is just a personal project of yours. :)

otherwise looks good.

will it be a one piece design from side to side when complete??? or are you attaching the 2 side pieces with another sheet of alum?

good work!

The drop bracket is part of the extenison. I haven't tried to make it with out and incorporate timbersleds brackets.

It would not be hard to remove the one piece bracket during the water cut stage, but there is a 1/8 piece that rivets on to hold the back of the footwell and edge grip. This might get in the way of the timbersled bracket.

The top sheet is a broken pan that rivets in place and the bumper will be a welded in tube.

Looks good I will be looking forward to seeing the finished pics. nice to see you making something different from the norm.

i would prefer the drop brackets incorporated with various mounting points (as long as it looks good). It would allow for a more "1 peice design" and probably stronger.... maybe.

Looks good, you just saved me a lot of time! Are you going to have these for sale and if so any idea on $'s? I have the timbersled drop brackets already and would prefer not having them built into your design. I also want to tip up my running boards similar to a Phazer. Don't see why it would not work. Any ideas when you may have them ready?
