True or False

True or False?

The one im questing ur guyses opinions on.

On this snowmobile(2004 800 Polaris) I've been looking at he has removed 3-4 large decals off the hood, and 1 of the reflectors is missing. He also put an extra strap part way up to the front, he said that extra strap near the front on both sides is to help keep the hood together incase of a roll over? True or False, Thanks to everyone who takes the time to read and respond.

This is an example of a brand new one from Heaven.

yes he installed those to keep the hood closed if he rolled it on a hill..sometimes they would pop out if you raile a rough trail as well..is a good thing to have ...

True, they help keep the hood closed in a roll over and also help keep it from jumping out of the track when banging down a trail or jumping. The decals on the belly pan...my guess is that it was replaced and he was too cheap to buy the new decals and replace them.

They do help hold it closed in a rollover...................but those are mounted too close to the front and won't be alot of help. They need to be mounted a foot or more farther back.

I'd take a look under the skid plate at the bulkhead if I was you.

Straps

are often put on for all the reasons mentioned. the stickers many of us remove some or all as we like a cleaner looks. I would not be worried about either of these!! But always look other areas for wear and tear.

One of the reflectors missing is the one on the side of the bellypan that is held on by double sided foam tape. You have to remove these reflectors to get to the two bolts that hold a bellypan on. And this bellypan missing that reflector and decals is a good sign of R&R.

Like has been said, remove that skid plate and check out the bulkhead. Any sled is gonna get dinged up, but just make sure its square. Also, yeah, them straps help but I'd move them to at least right in front of the "V" on Vertical to make best use of them.

When I go to look at this sled, I take the bellypan off, is that hard to do? Once i get the bellypan off do I look for a dented/damaged bulkhead?

Also I noticed if u look at all the other vertical Edge's of that year, the rods attached to the bulkhead(maybe).

Dented or Aftermarket, possibly?

Normal One.

Also thanks to everyone that has submitted a response, and giving me an idea what to look out for.

Agreed. However then one usaually pulls the decals off the hood too. Like was said also, the reflector the is missing also must come off to change the belly pan.

Yes, that tie rod is bent and that is not a deal breaker either, but find a buddy that know sleds well and have him look this sled over very carefully. The plastic belly pan may have just cracked somewhere and he placed it. Great, I have on mine too. But it is a red plag to look deeper into this sled.
Good luck.

True, I run 6 latches on my m-series. Its a guarantee that nothing expensive in the underhood compartment gets ripped off or smashed to smitherreans in a rollover. Ive tried it several times of course and was thankful I spent the $30 on straps..........
