--True Grit--

Man I don't know, re-doin John Wayne movies, they’re treadin' on mighty thin ice.

Can't stand the stupid southern accents.
Never remake a John W movie. Like John said. You will kill me in this movie and everyone will hate you.

Nobody hardly ever makes westerns anymore. Don't re-make a classic, make a new western!!

True Grit is my favorite John Wayne movie along with Rooster Cogburn. I am sooo going to go see this flick next week. Looking forward to seeing the "Dude" try his hand at the "Duke", but mostly looking forward to seeing Matt Damon get killed...lol!

Lol at Matt Damon taking a dirt nap. LMFAO.

Reviews in todays paper really liked it. The local writers are tough on westerns too.

They gave it 4/4 stars. I'm so in.

Roger Ebert gave it a good rating too.. He has never steered me wrong either.

Main point is Bridges isn't trying to play the duke, he is playing the character...

I can't wait to see it.

I really liked it... and I've been a Duke fan for years. Follows the book a little closer then the movie but still very good. Worth seeing and when it comes out on DVD I will own it.

I saw it, I thought it was a so-so movie. The first one follows the book almost verbatum until the last 5 mins. The new one even has scenes in it that weren't in the book. The ending in the new movie is like the book, but that's about the only part. I think the Cohen brothers missed a chance to make a great western. I had high hopes, maybe too high. I saw the original about 40 years ago & thought it was great. Maybe my expectations were too high.

saw it tonight.. good flick, nothing epic. I feel like they were trying to make the dailect to true to the times and it came across really choppy everytime someone talked as its just not nautural for them to use the kinda slang and language as back then.

I am a big sucker for westerns and definately didn't feel like I wasted my $5.50 for tuesday night movie.

I would rate at 4/5 stars.. was good well rounded movie that was enjoyable to watch, but by no means a knock out.

I rate it pretty well.

I liked both Bridges and the young girl.
She is a freakin pistol. She was really good. I loved it.
Bridges was GREAT as Rooster. He came across as a drunken slob than John Waynde did, that's for sure.

There was some fantastic dialogue in that movie.

The retarted midget making the animal sounds in Ned Pepper's gang...was he in the book or just a Choen Brothers addition?

What was up with the dude in the bear rug? LOL Trying to over-act and steal the scenes? What a kook.

Matt Damon's character was a dip chit. LOL But it was good stuff.

2 thumbs up from me.

I thought the girl was good too. The guy making animal sounds was in the book, the book just explained him better. The scene with the kook in the bear suit & the guy they found hanging in the tree were the coen's contribution to movie making history.

The book isn't what one would call a great novel, maybe more like a dime store novel. There are better books out there. Just saying, don't expect alot if you get the book.
