truck problems

hey guys. i have 2005 F150 supercrew with a lift on it and i am starting to get some weird vibrations in 4WD high. it used to be a real slight vibration at higher speeds (50mph and up) but now it seems to be doing it at any speed. it also seems to come and then go and then come back and on and on. i thought it might be a u-joint on the front driveline that was going out but i had it checked today while getting the tires rotated/balanced and they said it was fine. they also said the front differential fluid level was good but mentioned that the transfer case fluid level was higher than it should be. could the seal between the t-case and the transmission be leaking and pumping extra fluid into the t-case? and if so, would this cause a vibration that has increasingly gotten worse? let me know your thoughts-any advice will help.

we just received over a foot of new snow this week and i thought that i might have some ice built up around the driveline and/or wheels but it sat in the garage overnight and thawed out.

do your wallet a favor and pull the driveshafts and rotate the caps and see if they are getting stiff---u joints dont have to be loose to be bad--they start out tight for lack of lube and then get loose

Wyoming T/A-

thanks for the advice. i will do that tomorrow and go from there. probably best just to replace them since i'm going to be in there, right? thanks again.

parts man

I work at a ford dealer. Wy/ta hit it on the nose, don't know of one person that can look at a driveline and tell you that it is going out. What I have seen in the past is that the cv joint gets stiff on these and will cause this vibation you speak of, so just pull it off and check it. But if it is the cv joint that is bad you have to replace the whole shaft because you can't buy the parts to fix them. Unless you have a good amchine shop that will do it for you cheaper then a driveline will cost you.
