Truck Boss Sled Deck purchase in Fort St. John

I really did not want to bash a company on here but my buying experience has been complete crap! First I decide to go with the truck boss because of the great design and clean look. I use my truck for work and still need to slide gear and equipment under the deck and with no legs this works great! I could not find one around home but I had been told that this company in Fort St. John had them in stock, and since I work in that area I figured it would be a Good place to get it...

Well I bought the 8' with super clamps and carbide protection for my 2011 F-350. They did not have the long box install kit in stock but this wasn't a big deal I was in no rush as I was going to be working in the area for the next month or so anyway. I made the appointment with a company they recommended to install my new deck, on that day I dropped my truck off they told me it would be no big deal as they had just done an install of the same deck two days prior.

Once I arrived to pick it up after receiving a call saying that it is ready... It was not they were having problems with the carbide protection and asked if they could just use self tapping screws to hold it down. Me being a fool and in a hurry I say whatever I just need my truck and have to go (stupid me). but at least they asked.

A couple hours later when I actually get a chance to look at it the carbide protection is on in the wrong spots I cannot open my extendable sides and I couldn't put my sled on my truck if I wanted to! not only that but the deck is severely crooked on my truck. Now I was pissed I just paid almost 700 to have this nice deck installed properly. Now I have to fix it myself cause I was not having another flunky do it in a shop.

I remove the carbide protection leaving holes in my nice new deck and take a look at the instructions. Finding out that the boys at the shop didn't have a hope in hell of putting it on correctly, because the company I had bought it from had modified the rails to use carriage bolts and gave them 7 left hand modified rails and one right hand rail not modified as well they forgot to supply the super clamp hold downs. Good thought in theory doing away with the little plastic keepers and screws and instead using carriage bolts. But unfortunately they only supplied the screws which were to small to hold down the modified rails, and they didn't supply the super clamp hold downs which has to go on before the carbide protection. Thank god for instructions otherwise I never would have known they were available and would have drilled holes right through the deck.

So I call the company I purchased the deck from and they told me all about their great carriage bolt idea, that they only have one rail that does both sides and that they have the super clamp hold downs in stock. They charge me for the hold downs like it was my fault that it did not get supplied in the first place. Then argue with me about the left and right rail once again.

I called the guys at Truck Boss and they were great! They shipped me out a new set of rails 4 left and 4 right on the bus the next day to Fort St. John no charge to me and this was not even their fault. So a big thank you goes out to them.

I now have had to re install my carbide protection and fill all the holes. Loosen 3/4 of all my bolts on the deck to straighten it as the other 1/4 were loose or had fallen off, shift the deck so it was straight and re tighten all the bolts plus the lock nuts that were tightened the wrong way onto the bolt heads instead of the clamps lol. Pay for the super clamp hold downs this wouldn't be an issue except that I had ordered everything from them and they were at fault for not supplying them in the first place.

The Whole point of this long story is to thank the Guys at Truck Boss and give any guys thinking of buying a deck in the Fort St. John area the heads up that the 2hr drive to Stojans in Grande Prairie is worth it! It was cheaper in Grande Prairie installed than I paid for the deck before the install. I was just unable to make the trip but really wish I had just waited. I hope those guys at the DOO dealer in Fort St. John read this and so does everyone else in that area thinking of buying the deck or does buy the deck actually gets proper service!

Thanks for reading this rant hopefully it saves someone the hassle on their next purchase!
