Troy Lee Design vs. Fox V3

Been looking at upgrading helmets and after reading a bunch of reviews and doing some research I’ve basically narrowed it down to the Troy Lee Designs and the Fox V3. Of course I plan on trying them both on in order to find the best fit but I had a question for any of the guys that run either of these two helmets.

As far as the Troy Lee goes, how are they in cold, cold weather without any kind of breath box? Fogging issues? Has anyone retro fitted a breath box into a Troy Lee or upgraded to their “cold weather” liner?

Basically the same questions for the Fox V3 plus has anyone utilized Fox’s factory breath box for the V3 or is it even worth looking at?

In looking at pictures and comparing, the TLD appears as if it provides a little more wind protection due to the design but this is only an assumption.

Lastly, anyone have any recommendations on goggles that match up good with either of these helmets???

I have a TLD moto helmet. So I don't have the full face helmet. One you need googles with.

Helmet is lightweight and works just fine but have only worn it . never used it in a cresh ... thank GOD.

Have been running the troy lee line for several years now. Upgraded to the SE 3 this year and love it. They do come with extra foam pieces to put in all the vented area to keep snow dust out and cut down on the wind coming through on cold days.

I have owned both, and the Troy Lee is much nicer in my opinion; hands down. It just fits so much better and the shape/cut of the helmet just feels much better.

the v3 has the most venting of any helmet that i have ever worn. it was good for an ice cream headache on the cold days. good in the summer for dirtbikes but cold as hell for sledn.

For you guys that have the TLD, are you able to put in some kind of breath box if you wanted to on cold days????

I stuck a hjc breath deflector in my tld. works great! I actually cut small holes in the delfector where the bottom snaps of the ear pads are and sandwiched it behind the ear pad. this works much better than the hjc setup with the velcro

Great info, thanks guys.

The TLD helmet must great. The reviews and peoples comments are almost always great.
