wondering if you guys have some info for me..i'm new to the 4 stroke thing...took out my 07 apex today and heard ticking then loss of rpm. when i stopped machine just stalled..sounds like something ticking in the motor. no warning lights or anything on. not seized up at all, but sounds a little off.any ideas?

These motors are pretty bulletproof. Had anything done to it lately? Pretty tough over the internet. Might want to find an experienced ear nearby. TPS?

does the tick go away when u rev it up. if its a very fast fluttering tick its your valves. take a look at the extirior of the engine. make sure nothing looks abnormal

ya thanks guys....all kind of along the lines i was thinking. little different to work on than the ol vert escape!!haha, check out the airbox then if not the problem probably take it to the dealer.

i started it!! just bought the f*ckin thing, put bout 5 miles on it. took it to pg yamaha today and they're gonna pull the motor apart...278 miles on it.....fckin sweeeeet.

Let us know what they find....Hard to believe it self destructed. Maybe the previous owner didn't take care of it or damaged it in some way?

spun a bearing on the crank..con rods and a piston $4g's worth anyway.....anybody wanna buy an apex?

so what happened? a bad bearing? please explain to us nonwrenchers.

I lost my drive shaft bearing on a stock 06 Apex with only 1000k on it. Yamaha puts non greaseble bearings on these sleds. once water gets in their gone.

spun a crank bearing. the clutching is off causing it to over rev, but i only drove it about 3 miles, so i have a hard time believing i would spin a bearing as the machine supposedly has a rev limiter as well. so much for the bullet proof apex. It is bone stock and never been touched to my knowledge. Bought it off a fellow off of here in washington who said that he just started riding, so had no suspicion of clutching changes. anybody every here of anything like this. i've read about these apex's for awhile now and you hardly here of any motor problems, turboed, let alone stock. not sure if i'm sellin or not, get back to ya. not impressed at the moment
