Trouble installing FBF cable???

Am I missing something here or do I need a different cable? I went to install it tonight and I got the oiler end hooked up ok but when i went to hook up the throttle end it was too short. What i mean is with everything adjusted to provide as much slack in the cable as possible, when I hook up the throttle end it holds the throttle plates 1/4 the way open and when I squeeze the throttle, the plates open all the way up and stop before i get the lever against the handlebar. I've tried everything I can think of to get this to work but it just ain't happenin. Anybody else have trouble like this or have any suggestions? Thanks. Sonny

how big of risers do you have? i literally had my cable on in under 3 minutes no problem. I have about 6 inches of rise, and ordered the short cable, and still had slack that i was looking for a place to put!

cable ordered

I ordered my FBF cable today, I shone my light in underneath the exhaust manifold and pulled the throttle and the oiler moved to full open and stayed there, over the next few hours it gradually worked its way back to closed. My intake boots are starting to crack so I will order those next and replace them when I do the cable. I have a question, can I replace the belt the same way I always have on my sleds by turning the inner sheave of the secondary or do I need the tool that comes in the factory tool kit?, which I don't have.

Yes, you can. Just be careful and don't stress it too much by applying too much force. All the tool does is forces them apart and holds them. I have seen people use a bolt of the same thread size with a home made bend and a rubber hose as a grip.
