Triton TC-228?? Experiences?

Looking for a 4 placed enclosed that I can long haul to the mountains with a half ton.
Anyone have experience with the triton TC-228?
Discussion on Pros and cons on this type of trailer?
I would be adding the Luann interior, spare tire and mount, upgraded tires and aluminum rims, brakes on both axles, man door on drivers center, paddle grabbers and ski guides, roof vent . Anything else i should include?

How do they pull with a half ton?
Cost of this model? Where did u buy?

Another option is the TC-227 the 7 foot wide would tow easier, and be easier to see around.
This is called a 3 place but I'm sure that buy being creative I could occasionally make 4 fit (forward, back wards)
(forward, back wards)
Obviously that would not be ideal but either is towing 12-15 hrs with a half ton, or owning a diesel to pull a trailer.

Let me know what you think
Thanks in advance for your advice and experiences!

I don't own ether trailer but, just in case you don't know, what ever trailer you end up with make sure and get the biggest tires you can, try and get at least a 14" tire under your trailer. I have a Featherlite 20' Rocky Mt Edition with 14" tires and i would not go any smaller on the tires. I would also consider a Floe trailer, http://www.floeintl.com/trailers.asp?pageName=trailersMain just another option.
http://www.floeintl.com/trailers.asp?pageName=trailersEnclosures you can see that this trailer has some good size tires on it! If i didn't need as big of a trailer as i do, i would own a trailer like the one in the second link!

Triton and Floe are both very good trailers imo.

Thanks JDW1 I have seen the Floe protektor trailer before. I thought the gull wing could get caught in the wind and also freeze shut after a long haul. I also prefer the rear ramp door of the Triton for general construction use over the rear movable ramp. Defiantly a good aero dynamic option though.

I've heard the in-line "V nose" trailers pull much easier if your doing a lot of miles. Not sure if the same is true if a lot of your miles are fighting a cross-wind since the trailer will be longer.

I've seen a few Floes pulled by locals in the Laramie area and they sure look good.
I think my main concern would be lack of headroom. Asked one of them once how he liked it and he said it was great.

Trailer tires - I've been running 8" on my 2 place triton since 1999. 1200 miles each trip, no problems with tires or bearing running 75mph. Only had 1 blowout and the tire was about 6 or 7 years old.

Trailer tire speed ratings - these 8" tires are "high speed" trailer tires with no speed rating on them. Carlisle wouldn't say anything more than the tires are rated for highway speeds. My camper tires are ST rated for 65 and I assume most trailer tires are. Maybe running (75mph) in the winter prevents excess heat buildup which causes the tires to fail.

Tc 228

The tc 228 comes with 13" tires
I like that it is designed for 4 sleds and not a pain to stagger them front/ back or side to side like the 7 series.

If no one knows about the tc 228 can you share your expeirnces with the tc 11 or tc 12 x8' as they are the same trailer just half the size.
How well to they pull?
wind drag?
is the interior height a pain?
does the front hatch door freeze up?
are 13" tires enough?
any options that are a must?

Thanks

I got a 2013 TC128 this year. I pull it with a tacoma (v6). It only weighs 1000lbs so I don't notice it pulling much harder than my open place did. headwind doesnt seem to be a factor. I don't mind the interior height but I havnt been previously spoiled by more height. When loading/unloading I stay seated and dont come close to smacking my head. Moving about the trailer you just have to hunker down a little. The hatch has only lightly froze-banging on it lightly with my hand broke it free. it has a gutter at the top.
Overall, I would buy this trailer again. Very high quality. I like my small truck but it limits your options when getting an enclosed. I upgraded to 12" tires and had a fuel door installed. The trailer comes with small vents but I will be installing a larger roof vent (that was an option). I think sheeting the interior walls is a must whether you do it yourself or have it installed as an option.

Thanks RMG If i new my 5.4 triton would pull the TC228 no problem it would be my first choice. Well next to a full size 6'6 interior in line 22'+5' v which i think is to much wind drag for a half ton.

i have 22ft poor quality from new they problems with there axles my with inch tow in burned off 4 tires to yellowstone from North Dakota floe said they would send me new axles they never did after many calls and the dealer i bought it from went out of business so i had to purchase new ones went with 3500 lb axles because there!s where under rated for the trailer and sleds 2200 lbs axles trailer weighs 2000 empty also did not pay me for new tires, after i did all the repairs myself trailers does tow easy with any rig but the doors freeze easy never use the front back sleds off because to much trouble i am going to buy a new one also looking at tc22 8ft wide also if you have sled with tall windshield will hit the top trailer is to low hope this helps

Wow, that was a tough read.

We've pulled my 20+5 ft V 7 wide with a half ton I prefer the 3/4 ton but it wasn't an issue. It was never really a lack of power and didn't seem any harder to pull then an open with front ramps. It did cause the back end of the pickup to sway though. Upgrading to an LT tire made a huge difference and air bags would be nice but a load leveling hitch would do also. The Passenger tires half tons come with just have to soft of sidewall.
