Trip to Tahoe Tomorrow-Bring Sled???

Going to Homewood for the weekend 12/10. Where is a good place to ride? What is Blackwood Canyon like? Are the current conditions worth bringing the sleds?

Thanks for any advice.

Blackwood Canyon is a great place to go. Thin down low but good up high. Hope the rain stops soon. Bring the sleds.

Great. Looks like we will be riding Saturday and maybe a little on Sunday. Now we are thinking about heading towards Blue Lake by Kirkwood on Saturday and Blackwood a little on Sunday. Do you think this is a good idea, or would we be better off just in Blackwood?

Any tips for Blue Lake? Do you need a snow-park permit? Is parking obvious and somewhat plentiful?

Yes you do need a parking permit I think they are about $25.00.
I haven't ridden up there this year but I heard its ok.

Blue Lakes is a great place to ride.

Right now,it is a little thinner down low than Little Truckee Summit (north on hwy 89)

It's been a rain/snow garbage mix for the last two days everywhere up here in North Lake and South Lake.

If you were thinking about the drive to Blue Lakes, I think I would go to LTS it's closer than Blue Lakes and has a little better coverage based on reports from guys who have ridden both this year.

I've got 8 days at LTS so far and they have all been good. Haven't ridden the last two days because of rain.

Sno Park Permit needed at Blackwood, and Blue Lakes, but not LTS.

Ended up going a little south to Blue Lakes. Due to the recent conditions we thought a little elevation might help. Got back to the mountains and there was lots of snow to play in. I'm glad we brought the sleds, thanks for the advice everyone!
