Trip to Dubois the first of February

Thinking of a trip to Dubois the first week of February and would like suggestions on reasonable accomodations and where to ride. Six of us will be coming from Northwest MT with our own iron. We've been taking trips to either Revy or Cooke for about 10 years now and are ready to try something different. None of us have been to Dubois, so any info your willing to share would be appreciated. I know its tough, we keep our spots around home protected too.

we usually stay at the super 8 in dubois and trailer up to togwotee pass. its about a half hour drive but is alot cheaper that way.
the snow on the pass seems to be about the best because the closer you get to togwotee lodge, the more it is tracked up. LOTS of areas to find that are untouched all throughout the area

Plus you have sawmill, lineshack up there on union pass.. We stayed at lineshack last year and it was pretty dang pricy and the waitresses could hardly speak english and got alot of our food orders all messed up.

We stay at the stagecoach right in dubois then drive up to union pass. You can park your trailor in the lineshack parking lot and leave the sleds up there so you don't have to drive the whole rig up and down the mountain every morning and night.
From up there you can go anywhere with lots of snow and less people than tog. Have fun.

Stay in Dubous and trailer up.
WAY cheaper.
I always unload at Tie Hack and ride from there.

I've been riding that area for about 13 years. only a week or so a year though. I've stayed at Lineshack lodge for many of them. My group has moved to Lave mountain the last few. Tho closer you get to Towgatee the better the snow will be. Last year we were never more than about 10 miles from the lodge (Lava) the snow was so good. Never on trail. Down in town is cheaper but I like to ride from my lodge not trailer up. JMO. Lava has gas, food, Etc.

The Lava has good service and reasonable priced gas but the food is very expensive to eat there. I think the best deal for rental of the sleds is still through the Line Shack, they also offer insurance, and it is not to far from the Lava Mountain Lodge. Crooked Creek also is pretty nice to stay at and they also rent sleds. This area is really a great place to ride .
Have fun, be safe

I've been to Union and the Shack the last two years. It's a great place to stay and a great area to ride. But as luck would have it, the snow hasn't been very good at that elevation during my visits. We ended up doing about 25 miles of trail to the west(closer to Tog) to find decent snow. IF that area ever got a big dumping, it would be amazing.
